Picked up a single owner ‘99 Deluxe in Emerald Green. The previous owner worked at the Smithsonian for their Electric Guitar Project. They added the Fly to their exhibit as PRS noted Ken as being an innovator. He said he was able to meet Ken during that time.

I’ll post pics when it arrives.

Yeah, it’s pristine - the color is so pretty.

You can see our dear poodle in the reflection on that close up shot.

Thanks guys! It is the best example that I have played. Lowered it to 6/64th & 5/64th (without pressing 1st fret) with no problem.

Pretty sure it has gen ii Dimarzios, but I thought it was until a year or so later that those were dropped in.

Edit: he confirmed that he didn’t switch pickups.
These are gen 2’s, no? The FAQ states 2001 for that generation.

Nice, @Gregsaab! Glad it’s a winner!

Yes, 2001 was around the turning point for installing Gen 2s at the factory, but there are certainly outliers and oddities out there—I suppose its not impossible that the guitar was built in ‘99 and wasn’t sold right away. 🤷 Are you saying that this guitar was the Fly used in the Smithsonian exhibit?

No, Dan bought this guitar after working on that project as he was so impressed with the Fly at the exhibit and from meeting Ken.
This is the Fly donated by Ken and Larry: https://www.si.edu/object/parker-fly-el ... mah_608161

By the way, while it is a 99, he did say that he may have bought it as late as 2001.

Gotcha! A bit of a mystery it seems 🙂 I’ll review some of my docs and see if anything precludes the Gen 2s from showing up before 2001.

The guitar obviously made its way to the paint shop in ‘99, but—who knows: maybe it came back to the factory from a retailer and picked up new pickups? That scenario seems less-likely. I also doubt that it picked up a ‘99 serial number and then went unfinished for two years.
