So at a qty of 10 pieces, I can get these made in black delrin for just under $17. If I charge $20 and send first class mail, I think that would cover it.

It will look very much like the original but not glossy, hard to remove tool marks in delrin.

I updated the design to include a thru hole in the side.

The side hole is to allow the set screw to contact the bar directly and not deform the plastic. It might be better to use a nylon tipped set screw to avoid needing a hex wrench to remove the bar.

I could probably source the nylon tipped set screw and include that too.

Interested to know if that sounds like an improvement or not before I give the ok to fab these. I suppose I could just get the side hole and spin it so the hole is not in line with the screw.

Will post on Facebook groups too, if there’s enough interest, I’ll up the qty and avoid extra setup fees.

Hell yeah, @billy! Count me in! 👍🏻

The pre-refined set screw on the parts has the nylon tip—would that work with your design?

That’s the size/length @Ken Parker used.

I'd buy 3 of these.

That doesn't look like it will work on the Dragonfly. Thanks anyway.

Do you think this would work?

https://www.mcmaster.com/spacers/unthre ... ize~no-10/
They arrived yesterday

It works better than nothing.
  • It's a bit longer, so it sticks out of the guitar a bit more (not a problem for me).
  • Outside diameter is good.
  • The hole for the vibrato bar is a tiny bit large, so I put about 3/4 of a wrap of 'blue tape' on the shaft and it fits snugly.
It'll do, but it's not as good as the original piece.

I have extras, if anybody needs one, PM me.

I'm in for a few if you get this going. I'll probably want 4, as insurance for future breaks.

Who knows how long this guitar will last.

While the McMaster part works, it's not quite as good as the real thing, I'd much rather have a better match.

But until then, at least I have a vibrato bar for my gig DF without cannibalizing my at home practice DF.

Just a heads up, these are ordered and hopefully they arrive soon and in spec.

Will let you know more soon!

VJ- the 10-32 nylon tip set screw is almost exactly like the one I was looking at, but I’m probably going to go a bit longer- easier to handle and leaves less space for crud to collect.

I’m also going to check into a nylon set screw- only thing I don’t like is the flat screw driver used for most of them.

I know this is an old post, but are these still for sale? I'd be interested. Thanks.

Though @billy hasn't been by much this month, he's never away for long.

I haven't been here much either.

We're doing from 15-20 gigs per month, and learning new requested songs. I make my own backing tracks from scratch, so it takes a lot of time to crank out a new song and get it right.

But I check in every once in a while.
