Cool! this actually looks a lot like the fixture they had at usm. Need a few more details to offer constructive comments, but cool stuff!

Thanks, @billy! We’re excited about this one! My main hope, now, is that we can devise a workflow for fret/fretboard repair and, also, if we can get this down, we can look at ways to replace damaged truss systems and then put a similar fretboard back in place!

The removeable “tray” part does introduce some potential to explore multiscale/fanned fret options in addition to the 24-fret and 22-fret options!

Just a quick update:

We've refined our model for this fixture, and will machine it/begin tests in the coming months. The immediate goal is to produce a fretboard that looks like this:
nitefly-fretboard.jpg
Nitefly-spaced fretboard (fiberglass on carbon fiber) with stainless steel frets.

More soon!

Thanks, Barry! The ultimate goal is to be able to refret or replace fingerboards that are lifting or have lifting/lost frets!

I like the idea for a fanned fret layout.
Onward!

This is great! I guess I'm just one of many Fly owners living in dread of the day frets start falling off my guitar :(

Great design!

I just listened to the Ken Parker talk where he explained that the frets have grooves on the back so they'll grip the glue better and not move around.
