Nice - how did you confirm the Bond relief?

I looked at my notes from a conversation I had with Ken a few years ago. Ken and I speak regularly about projects, and from time to time, he entertains my questions about the Fly and I write whatever he says down, so that I can organize and memorialize it here on FlyClone.

We also spend an unusual amount of time talking about vegetarian/vegan recipes, and I take notes on that as well ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฅ• That might be best for a different forum ๐Ÿ™‚

Thatโ€™s great, convos Ken are definitely note-worrhy. Have you played an archtop of his?

Thanksโ€”yeah, there's a lot of lore and mis/missing information about Flys out there. Ken and his associate Cameron Willard both have research appointments in our lab at WPI, so they help fill in the gaps with some of this stuff.

Yes! I have played his archtops! Here's a video of me playing Olive Branch from last year!

That sounds amazing, great playing. Those are beautiful instruments.

Was that relief measured with frets 1,24,12? I recall seeing something about Ken measuring @ 9th.

Thanks, @Gregsaab! ๐Ÿ™ His archtops are very Fly-like!

I've check in with Ken and Cameron: they check relief at about the 4th/5th fretโ€”the 5th fret is about halfway to the 12th fret, which is why he chooses to check at the 5th because "as the string gets shorter it needs less relief".

Interesting. So .007โ€ @ 5th with 1&12 depressed. Thank you for checking with them.
