Replacement Flex PCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board)

Post by vjmanzo »

We’re happy to announce that we have developed and successfully tested replacement Flexible PCBs for the Ken-era Parker Fly—a complete solution to replacing torn or malfunctioning flex connectors to restore the original functionality of the Fly including use of the original Fishman preamp. 🥳🤘🔥

You Can Order These Parts Here

Thank you to everyone in the Fly Clone community that helped us test these and a special shoutout to @Peaches who helped bring this project to the finish line, @Patzag, @dayn, @jb63 and many others who have helped test these! We are thrilled to make these parts available to the Fly community!

These parts are direct replacements for the OEM flexible PCBs in original Parker Flys. We developed and tested these parts in-house at the Electric Guitar Innovation Lab (EGIL) and then beta-tested the manufactured parts with members of the Fly Clone community. These parts provide the same functionality as the original parts used during the Ken Parker era of Parker Guitars, but are made from more modern and stronger materials.

These flexible PCBs are available through our Reverb shop as a single set of two pieces or as discounted two-pack of two sets. They ship in an anti-static bag and can be stored as a “just-in-case” backup should your OEM flex connector ever tear.

Funds from the sale of these parts will continue to support the Fly Clone project and other research efforts of the Electric Guitar Innovation Lab!

Please note: a qualified technician should install these parts. To replace a flex cable, have a qualified technician desolder the two original flex pieces from the existing toggles, switches, etc. in your Fly, and solder these two new replacement parts. The use of desoldering braid is recommended.

Oh man this is fantastic. The amount of hoops I have to jump through to keep this working is insane. Hopefully springs aren't far behind.

Awesome !

There is no item left in your Reverb store.
Where can I buy this flexible circuit board now?

Do you have a suggestion to find a replacement for a pre 2003 fishman circuit board Fly1 Rev 1 ?

Thanks a lot

They’re still there 🙂 Maybe you have a country restriction setting in your account?

Hi all, wonderful job on this daunting task! So, I'm late to the game, but it's this still a thing? I checked the Reverb site to no avail. I'm debating a PTP rewire on an old Deluxe, or maybe not, if this is an option. Also might just go crazy and do something odd.

Thanks,
Lawrence
