“What’s This Worth?” Thread

Have something Parker-related to sell? Post about it here. Three things you need to know:
1. This area is for Parker Guitars and related accessories only
2. Post a clear asking price
3. This site assumes no responsibility in these transactions

I’ve considered this, too. Those I’ve talked to who favor 27+ fret guitars claim it’s the ease of hitting frets 20-24 resulting from the added real estate that ruins other guitars for them.

Those ESPs are sweet. I remember feeling like they’d been flying under my radar when of the stores I worked with became an ESP/II/LTD dealer. And their custom shop always had the craziest NAMM displays full of guitars that looked like Bayonetta bosses.

Yep. It’ll help if/when someone lists another Fly in the range of yours. I can’t be the only one to notice that your Supreme is the most expensive listing for one ever; and I suppose the typical buyer of Flys listed for over $4k has to be considering whether they’re far enough from the inevitable ceiling in all this to still be able to resell it for profit, should it not become their pride and joy.

The $9,000 Belew listing from two weeks ago lasted twenty eight hours because a fair amount of people had been waiting since 2018 for one to pop up. Whereas this Adam D custom (the current most expensive listing, above yours) has been sitting since February because, despite being rare as hen’s teeth, the peculiarities of the model relegates it to being even more niche in appeal than a typical Fly. I’d buy it myself if a few grand was knocked off - but the seller knows they only have to wait until the one person on the fence finally talks themselves into haggling.

…for what it’s worth, I think there’s now no longer import duties into the U.S. when buying from Australia: https://www.cbp.gov/trade/free-trade-ag ... _entity=en

I purchased a used instrument a month ago from down unda’ and, beyond completing a declarations form and paying for shipping, neither I or the seller had to pay any additional duties or fees.

Good to know, @vjmanzo. I don’t suppose I’ll have the luck of catching an Australian listing for a Belew, pre-2011 Artist, or DF842 - but if I do, I’ll be further tempted.

For the moment, someone in the contiguous US has a chance of getting this ‘94 hardtail deluxe for around $2k once the auction closes.

6/5/22 update: Black '94 Hardtail Deluxe ended up selling for $2150, after three last minute bids.

The “world’s biggest Parker collector” is reselling this ‘04 Mojo Flame with a neck chip near the 14th fret, previously sold here:

https://reverb.com/item/55475579-parker ... _sold=true

for a price superficially discounted from its 50% markup, minus its hardshell case and spare spring, with zero repairs or investment, here:

https://reverb.com/item/55992427-parker ... case-candy

https://www.ebay.com/itm/155023056105?h ... Swxkhimp0n

I was initially concerned that this was Shrectacular’s '06 Mojo Flame with the busted truss rod and piezo issue being flipped without the issues disclosed. Fortunately, no such shenanigans seem to be afoot (aside from the obvious bits).

For those of you itching to buy a Mojo in need of a chip repair, note that this being the only listing at the moment does not translate to being a fair price for a guitar in this condition. Do your diligence and search sold listings to get an accurate sense of whether a guitar is a good deal, if it’s being sold in need of repairs ranging from minor to specialist, or if a listing is intended to take advantage of impulse-buyers.

Update: It seems someone bought the guitar on Reverb the next day. Let’s see if anyone shows up in a week to ask about filling a neck chip and balancing the trem with the wrong gauge of spring installed.

Back up again for $2,580. I don’t know if there’s anything fishy with the last three listings’ seller accounts changing their locations from Australia to US.

This ‘98 Artist with hard case, bar, spare spring and manual can be yours for a bit over $4k, after tax. Too rich for my blood, but nonetheless a more realistic price than what some have felt their Artists and Supremes were worth this year. Just two years ago, you could find Artists for under $2k (prior to the most recent guitar boom that coincided with Reverb taxing private transactions of secondhand goods between individuals in a non-retail capacity for their own good).

https://reverb.com/item/5415673-parker-fly-artist
https://reverb.com/item/42492867-parker ... _sold=true
https://reverb.com/item/1152028-1999-pr ... ody-w-ohsc

I also wanted to point out how the second listing linked there is the same guitar as the first listing: The guy bought the guitar from Sam Ash and decided to flip it (with the Sam Ash listing photos) at a price that would ease Reverb fees - Yet, somehow, it didn’t occur to him that he should try to flip it for four times what he had just paid; in the fashion that recent Parker “enthusiasts” have ostensibly felt is their divine right while doing a “raise the roof” dance.

Update: The ‘98 Artist listing was live for only a few hours before selling.

Marc, man—nobody tops your flare for writing! I would literally listen to your "What's This Worth: Fly Edition" podcast all day long!! :P

Yeah, that is one good-looking Artist! :o Thanks for posting it, even if it's just for me to drool over! :P I'm curious if it'll sell at that price...

I may make an offer on it [update: sold a few hours after I said that]. After a very busy June, I have one or two guitars I think I can make time to sell this week; and buying another Fly might finally ease the sting I’ve felt since missing out on that Belew I feebly reached toward as it passed overhead :x .

This (I assume ‘94) Hardtail Deluxe has been sitting for a bit north of $2K. I’m not 100% certain as to whether it’s the same “04” we had a member post a while back. I’ve been tempted to make an offer just so I can mutilate it with a Kahler like Pat did with his chromeboy.

Update: Hardtail sold after four offers.

Did anyone else notice the eBay auction for the white ‘98 Deluxe in Berlin by a user named something like “orientalseller”? eBay seems to have removed the listing. The 0% feedback for the seller and multitude of low bids struck me as suspicious; so I made a low bid as well. 36 bids later, and my bid was still the highest at the time eBay deleted the page. Just posting this in case a clone of the listing pops up - It seems too good to be true.

Yes, I did notice that listing and have noticed suspicious listings like that in the past—glad that eBay has people to look out for this stuff.

So, it looks like the going asking price on Reverb is back firmly north of $3k. 🧐

Unrelated note: I got a notification that a seller named V from NY was selling a green Deluxe that looks just like mine and I got a quick twinge of panic! 😀

Crazy High Prices on Parker Flys Lately

Post by Fly Rod »

Was just looking on eBay & Reverb for Parker Flys & their prices
WOW!! $2222.00 - $5528.43 SHAZAM~~~
Doesn't seem to matter if they are Refined or Pre Refined but have seen more Pre Refined than the later
Mojo, Classic, Deluxe, Classic, Custom Classic & Stealth...
Also noticed that many parts that Mike G. @ G-Man Music & WI-Guitar has many things not listed anymore
Should have bought the three cut nuts for $15, He still shows the blank ones though, The way these are made it would be hard to find a suitable replacement... same with the tremolo bearings BUT he still has some in his stash, should e-mail him & ask about a cut nut just because
I just saw three rubber knobs for pre refined for $14.47, someone grab these up
Also saw the $80 vibrato springs that Billy's Shop is selling are moving out quickly = 38-50+ in 30 days
There are still a few .010" springs listed on Reverb for $179ea
There is also a set of used DiMarzio Pickups in the package Gen 1 for $145 on Reverb
And the $369 Guitar Case on eBay & I still want it but won't buy it, My Fly fits great in my Brian Moore's Case..
Thought about buying one of those nice Levys Gig Bags & having a Parker Guitars stencil made & painting the logo on

Not complaining just things I have noticed as of late

Sorry if this is the wrong place to list this VJ but thought others would have also noticed the change

My Fly is coming along & need to get back to it as I will have time this week & long weekend through the 4th of July
Going slowly

Selling guitars in our sleep, are we?

vjmanzo wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 9:09 amit looks like the going asking price on Reverb is back firmly north of $3k. 🧐
Yep. However, they’ve been sitting at those prices after the listings under $3k sold. Note that our new member’s gold Deluxe with a couple of correctable issues has been sitting at just north of $2k, despite the invitation to haggle and being listed on essentially every site. I suspect folks are getting pickier about the listed condition of these guitars; and only willing to splurge if it’s a color or SKU that doesn’t pop up as often as a Deluxe or Classic (of which we generally see at least four listings of each, in the same few colors, and more often than not with downplayed issues or missing accessories that were sold off by a previous owner).

NiteFly sellers have been trying to get up into Fly price ranges for more than a year (there are a number of $2k+ listings on eBay at the moment), yet the competing listings on Reverb have (at the time of this posting) brought four of them down to around $1200 (much closer to what they sold for when new).

There was a Joe Bonamassa interview a few years ago in which he announced that he finally had enough great-sounding modern amps (both reproductions and signature reproductions, as well as studio tools such as the Axe Fx and Kemper) that it was time to start selling off a lot of the vintage gear he had been hoarding since he was a teenager - But it was going to take years to offload them at a trickle rate because, otherwise, he would quickly oversaturate that niche market and devalue his own amps with competition from others in his collection.

Not to be a stormcrow, but it won’t exactly be a surprise if an impending economic depression in the US ends the guitar industry boom that began in 2020 after supply chain disruption, increased online window-shopping during lockdown, and desire by sellers to recoup increased Reverb expenses began creating bubbles in the used market.

In that event, I expect to recognize many of the guitars I observed sold in the last two years popping up two or three at a time, then sitting alongside the previous week’s competing listings.

Accurate on all fronts, Gary. I think it’s worth pointing out that, just a few weeks ago, we were seeing both higher and lower priced Fly listings; and I expect we’ll have them in July, as well. These asking prices don’t seem to settle in one place for very long.

Oh yeah! To me, that does seem likely! The government’s approach to curbing inflation is already in motion. 😬
