Fly nut blanks and "swoop" relief on player side edge

Post by DLQ »

Hi all,

I came into some NOS nut blanks apparently direct from Parker as they were closing up.

These blanks have flat edges, while on most Flys I have seen a "swoop" (for lack of a better word) relief cut into the player's side edge of the nuts.

Anyone know if this design, if present, was cut into nuts at the time of fitting as an extra flourish? Or did certain batches of nuts come out already with the relief pattern cut in?

I figure a picture is worth a thousand words. Here is a photo of a nut with the "swoop" relief edge I refer to, and also one with the flat / plain edge.

Hi DLQ,

I believe those nuts you have are the Graphtech-made nuts as shown in this post; the swoop was much less pronounced.

Do they look the same to you?
