What replacement parts would be highest on your list to buy?

If you had cash to spare, what parts would be the highest on your list to buy? (besides springs haha)

I'm assuming nut, bridge, and trem arms/bushings might be up there? Pots, backplate etc.? I already grabbed fret wire....thanks!

Nut, pots/switches, vibrato bushing would be enough. And, of course, a few springs. The Fly really is designed to not break or wear.

The chances are quite low that anyone will ever need a new bridge. The fretwire is made from the same material as Captain America’s shield, so, even if you need it (which you probably won’t), you’ll have an incredibly difficult time cutting it. If you happen to have a fret fall off, just don’t lose it and you can reglue it. Backplate is also unlikely to break.

I had heard the rumor about captain America's shield!

Cool, I'll pick those things up. Much appreciated.

Switches are always the 1st to go!

I've lost a switch already. I replaced it with a toggle I got on Amazon. Direct replacements would be nice though.

Probably the whammy bar bushing will be the part that wears out first that can't be found elsewhere. (I refuse to call it trem, when it is really vibrato and not tremolo, but that's because I'm weird.) :D

I also play sax and wind synth, and there is a difference between the two, and since a wind player can do either or both it's important to be precise. In it's simplest form, tremolo is rhythmic variation of volume and vibrato is rhythmic variation of pitch.

Leo got it wrong, and in guitar circles I'm never going to make a difference ;)

OK back on thread.

The highest on my list would be Parker DF Specific parts that cannot be found elsewhere. If someone would open a Parker replacement shop, when anything broke, I'd by from that person even for things like switches that I could get elsewhere. Why? To make sure that shop would be there when i needed a custom part.

I would like to see saddles on the list either Fishman or Graphtech. I would also like to see Fishman preamps. I am looking for a Custom Fishman Piezo and stereo double preamp.

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement whammy arm for a pre refined fly. I think it’s the hex one. Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thankyou good people.

Hi @Grandpaguy,

You can find some solutions under the Vibrato section of the Anatomy of a Fly post.

Switches ( the right ones), and ribbon cables.

I just bought my first (and probably only) Parker Fly (yippi!!!).
The vibrato bushing is of course broken, but there was a replacement bushing in the case, so I might try that.

So vibrato arm bushing and springs are what shows up on my list of parts that I'm in the market for. Other than that, my Parker seems to be in quite good shape, so hopefully it will keep playing for many years without breaking up :D Crossing my fingers!

Firstly, congrats! Is the bar/fitting hex shaped or round?

Thanks!! :-)

It's the round bar, not the hex. I've located a couple sellers on reverb that seems to sell them, and also the shapeways page, but seems they aren't available at the moment. Also, I'm in Norway, so there's a bit of shipping involved.

Ribbon cables, or non-ribbon drop in replacements.

Replacement KNOBS! The originals have that distinct rigid look and I'm sure would be difficult to replicate. Would be nice though, even if they were just hard plastic instead of rubber.
