Re: Nitefly: Best Production Guitar Ever
I wasn’t expecting this to be one of the best guitar spotlight videos I’ve seen.

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
Here’s a beater NiteFly in need of piezo work where the seller is trying to gouge on shipping. if I was to forget about preferring 24 frets and invest in a NiteFly, it would be after haggling this one down to be no more than a grand after all’s said and done (Though I happen to have all the necessa...

Re: Midiaxe connection
I will add though that the GR 33 IS a midi device which can be run by the MIDI Fly. The 5-pin midi in does access the sound module. That’s great! I looked into it, and it seems controllers plugged into the MIDI-In of some older GR units can be routed through the PCM soundbanks. I was under the impr...

Re: Midiaxe connection
I’m just now reading this, as well. The short answer seems to be that the five pin MIDI-out of your guitar is meant to interface with a sequencer-equipped keyboard synth or a DAW interface with its own synth/sequencer plugins; and not a Roland GR unit. If you’re wanting to drive a Roland guitar synt...

Re: Midifly Piezo/Midi issues
@Voxbobby22, are you active on VGuitarForums, at all? If not, I suggest asking there, as well. Unfortunately, there’s been very little knowledge of MIDIFly maintenance and troubleshooting shared in this community - The only unicorn rarer is the Adrian Belew signature Fly.

Re: Balanced String Set/Bridge Issues
Is it even possible to raise the saddles individually on a pre-refined Fly? They're not designed for it, but they can be shimmed in the same manner as Floyd Rose saddles. The problem is that the piezo wire connection on the underside of the saddle is delicate, and there's no reason the fingerboard/...

Re: Alignment of Bridge Pickup
That is interesting that the centering is only a cosmetic concern. To me, it would seem that the relative position/distance of the string to pole’s center would affect volume. Pickup bobbins are standardized to a few common string/polepiece spacings (e.g. 49.2mm, 51.5mm, 53mm, etc.), but aren’t one...

Re: Alignment of Bridge Pickup
The issue *should* only be cosmetic (not every guitar’s strings are going to pass over the center of every pole piece - You can back the pole piece screws out to get them closer to the strings and see if it sounds better). If those are Dimarzios you installed, there could be production tolerances in...
Re: pm-24
It should be on/off/on. Is the Fishman PowerChip preamp being used?
Here’s an old article about replacing the mag/piezo switch:

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
This gold spray-painted NiteFly can currently be had for under a grand (seller wishes to haggle). Other NiteFlys listed as being in "better" condition on Reverb seem to be sitting and gradually being marked back down to the $1k to 1.2k range. Update: Sold on July 20th for undisclosed offe...

Re: Balanced String Set/Bridge Issues
Voice Of Reason , I’ve leveled and dressed the frets on my ‘97 and ‘98 Deluxes and 2011 Supreme with no issues. I used a leveling beam with 400 grit (previous experiments with courser grits made subsequently polishing out the scratches a tedious process), a StewMac diamond crowning file (though any...

It seems the seller of this ‘09 Mojo Flame in Blue Burst with large chip fills on the neck and body is eager to offload it for around $2k. Update: Seller raised price back to $2,500, then down to $2,400 following lack of bites. By July 20th, it had made its way back to $2k with shipping, then seemin...

Re: Adrian Belew Elevator Tour
I was afraid of that. He did an interview, recently, in which he complained that he simply cannot get spare parts for any of his Flys; and needs the strat to take over as much from the “MIDI rig” as he can get it to.

Re: My Parker P36/P38 hybrid project.
Jack G , the function of the missing preamp, in this case, is essentially to ensure that the summed signal generated by the individual piezo elements is amplified to a voltage comparable to what’s being put out by the magnetic pickups. You can run a “raw” piezo signal in parallel with a magnetic pi...

Re: My Parker P36/P38 hybrid project.
Very cool. Can’t wait to see how it looks installed (and hopefully hear how it sounds). I somehow missed your previous post about reversing the jack connections. I’ve certainly been down that rabbit hole before. The worst one was a customer bringing me a Gretsch Electromatic I had previously replace...

Someone has a chance to score a ‘98 Inca Silver Deluxe for around two grand, assuming the bidding doesn’t get out of control in the last hour: https://www.ebay.com/itm/195187335507?hash=item2d72126153:g:G7kAAOSwhqZiwMTc I’m telling myself that I already plan to refinish my black ‘98 silver as part o...

Re: Adrian Belew Elevator Tour
Think of Adrian as the kid you don’t get to see as often! He always skips my city. Supposedly, this tour is two sets with an intermission. Ade also claimed that he’ll be playing his latest strat(s) (in addition to the Fly), in hopes this will encourage Fender to sell a Belew sig model. But consideri...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
I think the UK (where that listing is) has its own speculator market. Note that they or a previous owner couldn't resist selling the spare spring or other accessories (to the extent that the manual being included is a selling point). It may be worth messaging them and asking if shipping it without t...
