Nut has sheared from trussrod

Hi dean thom ! I’ve had success following these exact steps that Ken Parker has posted here . In two cases, the truss seemed maxed out, and my tech (two different techs in each instance) followed the steps to effectively bow it back. Problem solved and super-low action restored! If you’re near the n...

Maybe because Korg is a Japan-based company? We’re all ears, @marvin!

Re: Refined Black Beauty

The RMC Polydrive II piezo sounds great; to my ears, it’s possibly the cleanest and clearest piezo preamp of all four used on Flys (both Fishman preamps, the Graphtech, and the RMC, which, I believe, was only used on the Belewberry DF842—I’d have to consult the catalogs), but I have heard from a few...

Re: NiteFly NiteMix External Fishman Piezo Preamp

I think you may be on to something, mmmguitar ; I can certainly see signs of that happening, unfortunately. Regarding USM or another company reviving Parker Guitars: I would absolutely welcome a brand to do just that!! From what has been shared with me, many companies have sought to buy and revive P...

Re: Refined Black Beauty

Congrats, InsideInfo ! You’re definitely building a swarm of Flys now!! mmmguitar is right: adding MIDI functionality is super-easy with the Graphtech. I’ve never encountered the issue you’re describing but I think Marc’s assessment and suggestions are spot on. I too am intrigued by the very l...

Re: WTB: Fly Supreme / Spanish Fly Pre Refined

Stalk reverb like VJ and me. Haha! At least every other day, I'm scrolling through Reverb and I think: "what is wrong with me?!" ;) Having said that, I didn 't know there was a Concert up the other day for 13 minutes, so obviously, there's nothing wrong with me: I need to buckle down and ...

Re: WTB: Fly Supreme / Spanish Fly Pre Refined

Thanks, DLQ ! It’s great to have you here, so thanks for being a part of it! The Fly Nylon is on the rare side, but one or two do pop up each year on the used market; if you’re ready with $4,500 or so, and you’re quick to the draw, you can scoop one up. For reference, that’s about what they sold for...

Re: 90's Nitefly questions.

Got it! Thanks for posting these. Looks great BTW!

I suspect the guitar you have originally had the Fishman NiteMix in it, which looks like this:

If you lift the pickguard and see a small blue dial, it’s the Fishman Powerchip.

Re: 90's Nitefly questions.

Good question...If the battery compartment route on the back was done at the factory, then it’s more likely that the previous owner installed a different piezo preamp.

Can you take a photo of the back of the guitar, the controls on the pickguard and, the electronics underneath the pickguard?

Hi @destropiate, and welcome!

According to the info we have on serial numbers and this NiteFly history document, you have a NiteFly 3 or 4 from 1997.

I remember seeing that on eBay a while back; integrated effects. Seems cool if you’re looking for a Classic with unusual electronics.

Re: WTB: Non-OEM Fly pickups

We’ll see if I resort to winding my own in the meantime. That could be a fun project! Finding a used Seymour Duncan is also an option; I’ve only modified one Duncan for a Fly and it was pretty easy if you’re replacing Duncans in a Mojo (or one of the late Flys that has Duncans). You just have to ma...

Re: WTB: Non-OEM Fly pickups

That’s a bummer about Dimarzio being backordered, mmmguitar , but I suppose the good news is that Dimarzio is still going strong despite the pandemic! I only have the usual suspects in my Flys as well as a few other Dimarzio models wound for Fly, so I’d be curious what you find. I will say that Bob ...
