Wanted light weight DF (not PDF)

There is no rush on this, but if you have or hear of a used Parker DF (Dragonfly/Maxxfly) for sale, I'd be interested. Not too expensive, bottom of the DF line is preferred. I have two, my partner had a PM10 but would like to step up to something lighter. A PDF would do ONLY if it is less than 5 pou...

He thinks a lot of himself $$$

It's not my taste in design though. I hope someone loves it.

Re: Future interest in Parker - up or down?

I agree, most guitarists are not into innovation on shapes or brands, but instead many are open to modding. I think if a few 'guitar gods' decided to play Parkers exclusively, there would have been enough sales to sustain the company. So many players are influenced by what their idols play. I bought...

Re: Battery compartment "in body" cover

How long do your batteries last? I change mine once a year, on my birthday, whether it needs it or not. The still pretty good 9v batteries get used in other devices where a failure isn't a problem. BTW, I like the scotch tape suggestion. It's a PITA sometimes to get the battery out of my DF. My big ...

Re: Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

We tell people we play for free and charge them to schlep the gear and learn new songs. We used to just say schlep the gear, but then people volunteered to move the gear for us if we'd play for free ;) The heaviest thing we have are 40 lb speaker cabs, and I just tell myself, it's weight bearing exe...

Re: Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

As a career musician, I'm having a great, fun life, but it isn't all that lucrative. If I had to do it over again, I'd make the same choice. Off topic, but, man: that’s the best thing I’ve read all day! OK, I'll put it on topic. When I go to "work" I play my Parker DF, Sax, Wind Midi Cont...

Re: Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

Thanks. Rewiring is out of the question. The house was built on a concrete slab, over the cement block walls is real wood paneling (not plywood), it's a flat roof house so there is no attic. The tongue and groove ceiling is the bottom of the roof and 2" of polyurethane foam is on top of that (i...

Re: Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

If I ever get clean recording I'll do it. I made a few tries when someone in the old Parker forum asked, but I got way too much 60hz hum. I do fine in my MIDI studio for making backing tracks for my duo and for making aftermarket user styles for Band-in-a-Box, but whenever I try to record something ...

Re: Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

Ha ha! The Miscreant thread! I think even the all-unfinished wood ones like Notes uses can last as long as any Gibson from Kalamazoo, as long as they don't get smashed. Hopefully we can start again with this new space documenting wear and tear. Hey! Speaking of were and tear... the last we heard fr...

Re: Any love for the P series (import)?

My wife's PM10 is so well built that you have to take it into a very bright light to see where the neck meets the body. The wood grain almost matches and the thin line of a seam is almost invisible. The pickups are decent but nothing extraordinary. The SC tone is nice, the humbucker a little weak bu...

Re: Any love for the P series (import)?

My wife has a PM10, the build is so nice that it was one of the reasons why I took the plunge and bought my first Parker.

Re: Somebody has to post first.

Thanks.

Outdoor gig cancelled tonight due to tropical storm watch, 35mph wind driven rain squalls. So I'm playing on the Internet instead.

I'd rather be gigging, it's the most fun I can have with my clothes on.

Re: Somebody has to post first.

Those look great! Is the back of the neck also wood-colored? Yes http://www.nortonmusic.com/pix/NN10_back.jpg The front has darkened except for where some pick scratches are, a scratch plate might have been a good idea for me. I tend to dig the pick too hard when I get excited sometimes ;) Notes

Somebody has to post first.

Thanks for taking up the Parker torch. The official Parker forum might be gone, but the Parker Party can Proceed here. It's not often that I get to be first at anything ;) so I'm the first poster here. Being the first poster is cool, but I also want to make the post useful to others, so here goes......

Re: Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

Thanks for adding the DF section. My first DF had problems. A cracked body near the neck, causing the neck to misaligned and butted up against the pickup (see pix). http://www.nortonmusic.com/pix/Parker_before.jpg I don't know if it had a carbon reinforced neck or not. It did have a Fishman piezo. I...

Re: Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

Thanks, that's great news. Look like I won't lose all my old Parker Buddies. I'm hoping my Parkers will keep working until I reach the coda of my life. I like the light weight, balance, radius, scale, and contours. It's like wearing a guitar instead of holding it. So far, so good. I've replaced the ...

Is this forum for all Parker electrics, or just Flys?

Hi, I just noticed the http://forums.parkerguitars.com/ and http://forums.parkerguitars.com/index.php?action=login have gone belly-up. So I bookmarked this site months ago "just in case" this was going to happen. The old Parker Forum has been pretty much comatose except for some trading fo...
