Re: Saddle threading stripped

Was going to suggest helicoil- exactly what these are meant for. Just watch that the coil isn’t too tall.

Failing that, you could remove the bridge, take it to a machine shop and have the plug, redrill and tap. Probably 10 mins and if you bring donuts, they might not charge you.

Re: Total Refurbish of Trashed Fly Deluxe

Hey Gary Hope this helps- sometime between refined and usm closing down they switched from imperial to metric. Or vise versa. So the pins may be very close but not actually a fit. Please measure your diameters carefully including the pin and where the bearing fits the post. Both bearings are readily...

Re: Springs

I remember that project! I tried but never could bond with the Kahler systems, much preferred the Floyd style. There were more cool whammy tricks with a Floyd than other styles. And I believe the df series is a bit thicker to allow for mounting a Floyd with the shorter block. I guess they had more t...

Re: Parker Retrofit

I was going to suggest a possible wiring problem where the ring and tip were possibly switched, but sounds like you got it sorted. The fishman powerchip system has “smart switching” so it makes a “little” sense that the switch wiring might be different. Somehow it can tell via impedance if you have ...

Re: Maintenance Kit

Thanks Billy. Much appreciated! My need is mostly centered around home set up, rather than at a gig. But your post has some cool ideas. (USB Soldering iron!) Anyhow. Looking for advice on feeler gauges, action ruler, etc. Funny how auto part feeler gauge are sold at 6 bucks, same set for "guit...

Re: Maintenance Kit

Most of my stuff is from the auto parts store or Home Depot. A few pieces from Amazon. I have some of those fold out Allen wrench sets, English, metric, and metric torx. A set of wire cutters/strippers. A usb soldering iron, some wick and solder. Phillips and flat head screw drivers- the all in one ...

Re: The Source of Guitar Tone

Tone is in the fingers. :)

Wood matters too- my hill to die on.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But what parts make a difference. I still think “tone woods” is about marketing.

Up to you to decide how much. If you don’t think wood type matters I’m ok with it.

Re: Fly Body (original)

Almost nothing is parallel on the body. The inside faces of the pickup routes and the bridge pocket are parallel to each other. The rear surfaces are not parallel to the pup and bridge routes. I’m not sure what the angle is. Even the inside of the control cavity is surfaced to match the front face.

Re: Mojo Fly Tremolo/ Tuning Issue

The link and info mmmguitar offered is pretty good, as are VJs comments. You came to the right place! One possibility that is mentioned briefly there is that your bridge post anchors have shifted deeper into the body. It sounds alarming but your mojo is a little thicker than earlier fly bodies and t...

Re: Parker Fly Mojo Body CAD?

I wish I knew who had them! I’ve been working on cad surfaces on and off for a while. Lots of distractions but hopefully I will have time to finish in 2022. I don’t want to make copies but keep some of the top and rear surfaces similar.

Re: What do we know about Dusty Black?

My mojo TOM project was dusty black originally. Pretty sure it’s just black with fine metal flake in the base coat, then clear gloss top coat. Don’t have the code but I think it’s ppg. There should be honda, ford, etc touch up pens that will be very close.

Congrats! I don’t know for sure but should be pretty standard stuff- the pdf were made for cost and higher volumes. Your best bet would be to pull one, measure and buy from eBay, etc. brand is probably not worth worrying about.

Re: Vibrato Arm Bushing (refined)

What's the OD of the refined vibrato arm? I have one coming and I'd like to machine a bushing for it before it arrives Thank you! The model is probably ok. 3D print tolerances are not the same as injection molded tolerances. I love 3D printing but this part has some heavy demands and probably would...

Re: loose tremolo arm (pre refined fly classic)

Agree with VJ.

If I recall correctly, the hex bar can be used to tighten that nut by inserting it from the backside and using an open end wrench on on the top side.

Don’t need to torque it too much either.

Re: Vibrato Arm Bushing (refined)

You should be able to find something like this locally

www.amazon.com/Black-Nylon-Spacer-Thick ... ast_sto_dp

Double check the Id and OD, and get something close to 18-20 mm long.

If needed, get a smaller ID and drill it to desired size.
