Re: WANTED: PM20 Pro

Definitely want to replace those frets when you get the $. My guy here in SLC HATES working with SS frets but said he'd do it fir $500. So that's the mark I use. That was a few years back, though, and in the past year and a half all techs I know are swamped. But once that neck is the way you like it...

Re: Sold: Fly Deluxe 1993 (hardtail) w/OHSC $1,500

Just browsing the prices on Reverb & eBay this morning and it feels like the prices have actually settled down to something reasonable. Average price of a deluxe or classic is $2500. Still less than they retailed for new. Now I haven’t browsed SOLD listings in a while, but for a player not a col...

Re: MIDI Fly Mods

Piplodocus is awesome! He went insane with that build. Any time you want to do something like this get used to not liking money anymore. (I'm one to talk!) The easy solution is to just use the common Fishman Tripleplay stuck to your guitar. Its easily removable and wireless! Look at all that stuff c...

Re: Fly modding service

Its not an out of place comment to post here that I love the USPS Priority mail system when shipping guitars. They move them by plane and have never let me down. The max insurance amount covered is only up to $2k though, and that might be a dealbreaker. I've only had excellent results with the USPS.

^^^THIS!^^
Best thing about the powerchip is that you can still get it! You could wire up any guitar to the standard USM fly electronics pretty cheaply.

Re: Parker trem problems

First things first! We can help you identify the problem but you’ll need to be more specific. The only headache I can imagine that could cost you $$$ is if the wood on the mounting posts is giving out and that is highly unlikely with maple. More likely you can adjust some of the adjustable parts and...

Time to unload that butternut if that’s an $8000 guitar. Don’t even do the math for fees and taxes.

Re: 95 Fly Deluxe on Reverb

The market will bear what the market will bear, I guess.

[Remembers that most flys are in the hands of collectors]

I'd like to vote for them all to be priced at $2000

Re: David Bowie play's FLY on 50'th birthday

Earthling is great but you have to hear the live treatments to really appreciate it.
There's an album called Live and Well.com you should check out. Really great guitar stuff.

Re: Weak & Low Volume on Gen1 Bridge Pickup

I swappnd them once on my 96 deluxe, and the neck pickup sounded great in the bridge. I had to lower the bridge pickup in the neck position quite a bit to get balance. It was fun, but not as "usable".

pretty easy to swap them back.

I love a good story.
You’re not getting any younger. Thales that Gibson ES-330 and beat it up on every gig you can. I love those guitars. Sell the pm10. Sell it here. In the classified section !

Re: How much is a PM10 worth?

Somewhere between $250-$500 depending. I keep holding on to my PM24 because its more valuable as a "here, play this" than as something to sell and ship. The PM10 is a great guitar, precisely because they are cheap. Plus, I've never seen one with truss rod issues. A PM10 with Gold Evo Frets...

Re: David Bowie play's FLY on 50'th birthday

He played an artist during the 1995 tour, but he and Carlos mixed things up a bit. I think it was 1996 where the guitar you mention turned up, but it wasn't used a lot. By the end of 96 he'd use a the nitefly with the GK2 almost exclusively. I can't remember which synth he had it plugged into. Its m...

Re: Fly Pickups (Gen 1, Gen 2, and Other)

Yes! 1/4 turn. This whole mess of adjusting the truss rod, raising and lowering each side of the bridge, raising and lowering the pickup height, even tuning and adjusting the floating bridge... ...it may take a whole afternoon at first, but it is essential to learning how the guitar itself works and...
