Re: Concidering Graph Tech Ghost in Fly Deluxe

Hi @Gregsaab—yes, if you’re looking to use the Graphtech saddles with the Fishman Powerchip then you’d follow the steps in that first document you linked. Soldering would be required as per step “B”.

Yeah, this almost has a good look to it in the photos—I agree that it’s really cool!

I’m really curious what this one sounds like—I’ve been looking at it for a while now 😬

Re: Mystery Fly

From one of you, it sounds like Mr. Parker sometimes sometimes chimes in here. It would certainly be fascinating to hear his take on this model. Hi ChrisB —happy to help. Yes, Ken Parker is a contributor here and a research affiliate in our lab, EGIL. You can learn a bit more about his involvement ...

Fly Deluxe with mahogany neck

Hi colliderman —it’s from this listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235230973953?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=TEFnCCqlSIe&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=t2FC-pxrRIC&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY …and I believe they called it Galaxy Gray—we’d have to check the...

Re: Current Market Value of a FB-4

Hi jazzwalk and welcome! You probably have noticed a few sitting on Reverb in the $3,500 price range—they have been there a long time it seems, and I don’t anticipate them selling at that price. I paid about $2000 for mine back in April 2018 and I thought that was a pretty fair price. We’ve seen som...

Re: Mystery Fly

Hi ChrisB , and welcome! Yes, you are correct in identifying the Fly Classic model and year and, by the look of it, it seems like a one-off finish— Ken Parker is a creative guy, and through the years he did lots of different tweaks here and there, especially with finishes—this appears to be one of t...

Re: S2 for sale on Reverb

Thanks, Mike987 ! I’ve been tracking with it this week—very cool actually! The neck pickup especially! I was waiting to make a reply in this thread once I had some audio I felt comfortable sharing, but—in short—it’s a cool Fly! I’ve been so used to the humbuckers on the Fly, so this feels like the s...

Re: How many pre-refined Fly Supreme’s were made?

The one with the giant chip on the side is not worth 3k imho. I would also not pay $3k for a Supreme with a chip in it. Not to dissuade you or anyone from buying a Supreme, I own a Fly Maple Custom, colliderman , and it’s a fine instrument, but the differences between it and the Deluxe are subtle—t...

How many pre-refined Fly Supremes were made?

Hi colliderman and welcome! An exact record does not exist. We can speculate, however, and from what Ken Parker and others that worked at Parker Guitars in Wilmington have said, the Fly Supreme was not a rare model; it was a bit more expensive than a Fly Deluxe because of the materials (highly-figur...

Re: Does the Nitefly have the same truss rod design as the Fly?

Hi @Reharm the NiteFly does have a traditional truss rod as opposed to the truss wire system in the original Fly. If you look at the 22nd fret of a NiteFly, you will see the truss rod nut.

The Three-ridge Spring Plate and How the Vibrato Feels

Interesting regarding the spring's position on the three-ridge spring plate. I figured this was related more to the tension on the spring than the feel. Though admittedly I haven't searched much on this topic, I did do a little looking around for more info related to this and struck out. With this ...

Re: A few questions from a new Fly owner

My issue is that with a 2022 NOS 9 spring installed, and 009 strings on the guitar, I have to be backed out to almost nothing on the tension wheel for it to balance out while tuned to E standard. Did you buy this spring on Reverb from “ Billy’s Shop ”? And was that how it was described in the listi...

Re: Which Nitefly is it ?

Hi @tcmm—yours is the second one on the top of the first page—NFV2 (no M—I’ve corrected my earlier post):
IMG_0967.jpeg
The passive piezo system in that NiteFly does not require a battery and was originally paired with a NiteMix.
