Re: Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?

Every guitarist that I ever let play my Fly has been blown away by it and almost always says they wanted one. Yes, that’s been my experience as well! One thing that I think may be a strike against the Fly, however, is that even though they’re in many ways easier to play than most guitars, they also...

Re: Genuine Parker Lover - looking for Bronze or Nylon/Spanish Fly in good working condition

Hi Koyunbaba —thanks for posting! Great looking Fly! I’ve seen these go for around $4k, which is oddly about what they sold for new in the late ‘90s; it’s anybody’s guess what someone may be willing to pay for one as they’re much less common than the Fly Deluxe and Fly Classic. It could fetch $4,500...

Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?

It’s telling that a mad scientist who eats cantaloupe every day is one of the only people willing to keep the innovations alive, via this site and its mission. I think that’s a reference to me, so I’d better chime in! 🤣 I think mmmguitar is right on (as usual!), DanMumm —Ken still is very muc...

Love it! Thanks for sharing, berlinix ! I'll keep the sharing going—here's Ken Parker talking about when he met Joni Mitchell and built her that Fly (at 1:09:54 ): https://youtu.be/nJkm_IhBi-M?t=4194 Ken also wrote this recently about this performance by Joni at the Newport Folk Festival: She's play...

Nothin’ to see here—just a bunch of early Fly bridge prototypes Ken Parker keeps in a box 🙂 D5AA5BAD-C086-4112-80DA-3394ABF04E43.jpeg 10D08611-A691-4102-A772-35E9406B7BFB.jpeg C4CC5D6E-89A2-4566-8CA9-35EF93B9F2EF.jpeg A67ADE1E-BF74-4BA6-84D8-1075B6C6913F.jpeg 9FF50C34-20F7-426C-9EF2-A0CBE92CFBCB.jpe...

The Mythical ‘92 Fly Deluxe

The first production Fly guitars were from 1993 and had Redwood necks and basswood bodies thus denoted with the serial letters RP (as opposed to the latter BP for basswood and poplar). The basswood poplar combination was chosen for production models by Ken Parker after the use of redwood necks witho...

By “amplitude” do you mean pitch bend range? If so, see this post from @mmmguitar!

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

Here's one supposedly in better condition , suddenly dropped $1,424 after sitting for twenty days to an asking price of $2,075 + tax. Includes bar and spare spring. Update: Sold very soon after being linked here. Ahh that is very interesting. I feel like that’s a fair deal for a Fly in that conditi...

Re: Fly: Fact or Fiction?

I can confirm 100% having asked @Ken Parker personally that he never did anything like this. In fact, there was a rumor that Flys were indestructible, which he detested because, obviously, they’re not.

People were most likely recalling the Steinberger demo—thanks for linking that! Very cool! 😎

Re: Midifly Piezo/Midi issues

Hi Voxbobby22 —bummer! Have you checked all of the obvious things like batteries, knobs, cables? It’s best to test these things out sequentially as you probably know. Does signal pass from the guitar to the MIDIAxe? Does any MIDI activity light up on the GR-33? Somewhat related, was it your intentio...
