Re: Adrian Belew Project - Help Everyone
Great info and questions. Thanks. Lots I have to think about. I’m thinking of keeping my root beer dragonfly as is and using a Nitefly with custom drill holed pick guard (WD Music) to make it look clean and professional with controls in the appropriate locations. This will also give me the option of...

Adrian Belew Project - Help Everyone
Hello Everyone, I have decided to take the plunge and make my own Adrian Belew Parker for the fun, challenge, and heck of it. I am going to be using a Parker Dragon Fly as my base. It’s a single, single, humbucker Volume, Tone, Tone, 5 way switch. Today a Variax 6 guitar that I bought on eBay arrive...

Re: WTB: Reeves Gabrels Prototype
You’re right. Reeve’s mentioned that the key to his sound is in his Roland used in combination with a Fernandez sustainer and Roland pickup. (Not that his incredible playing has to do anything with it) lol

Re: WTB: Reeves Gabrels Prototype
The neck and body of the guitar are both customized by Ken, each one of a kind. The body is indeed a huge slab of mahogany with swimming pool route. There are a few speckles and “jewels” inside the cavity. It’s as thick as a telecaster body, and just as heavy. No other Parker is like this one. I agr...

Re: WTB: Reeves Gabrels Prototype
The body, like the neck are both, one of a kind. Reeves described the body as being a slab of mahogany. Under the pick guard is a “swimming pool” rout (rectangular rout) to give Reeves the most options for maximum modification. In the end, he went with the GK-2 pickup and a Fernandez sustainer syste...

Hello Shunsuke,
Nice to meet you and welcome from all the way in Japan. Your Parker looks great. I’m curious to know what is that color called? Also, was it expensive? I’m thinking of buying the same guitar but in a color called Chrome Yellow. Arigato.

Re: David Bowie play's FLY on 50'th birthday
True. Earthling is a brilliant album. Reeve’s regretted that there wasn’t another follow up album in the same genre. From there to Hours was a bit of a leap. More could have been exploited with their (Bowie / Reeves) sound at that time.

Re: David Bowie play's FLY on 50'th birthday
Ken Parker made up the guitar shown above and it indeed features a GK-2 pickup and a Fernandez sustainer kit installed. The piezo saddles in the bridge are disconnected. He used this guitar on both of Bowie’s Earthling and Hours albums. At that time he played through a Roland GR-20 guitar synth, and...

Re: David Bowie play's FLY on 50'th birthday
Yep, Reeves told me that Bowie borrowed it from him. It wasn't his guitar, only a loner.
