Thx Flyrod! You’re doing some great stuff and not at all slacking!
This project wasn’t tons of hours but they were spread over years…. Such is life.

Re: High fret
I agree with earlier comments in general, but that chipping on the side looks like the fretboard could be delaminating. There were some others from around that same time period. Use a piece of masking tape (like a handle) near fret 4 to see if there’s any movement in the edge of the fretboard when y...

Re: Broken plastic where vibrato inserts into the tail.
So at a qty of 10 pieces, I can get these made in black delrin for just under $17. If I charge $20 and send first class mail, I think that would cover it. It will look very much like the original but not glossy, hard to remove tool marks in delrin. I updated the design to include a thru hole in the ...

Re: Broken plastic where vibrato inserts into the tail.
Yeah that should work. I created a CAD model today and measured the stock piece and I get .393 OD and .193 ID. (More roughly, 3/8 and 3/16.) I don’t remember the overall length. Anything about 1” long should work, there’s less than that engaging with the bridge. The rest just hangs below and doesn’t...

Oh cool- great stuff JB!
Notes, meantime, you could remove that plastic that remains, spin it around and maybe good enough to use temporarily. Most likely it will split again.

Re: Fly Deluxe Respray Recommendations (UK)
Saw this on Facebook, super sad. Look for a PPG auto paint store nearby. Give them a call, describe the issue (you need a carbon fiber/wood guitar refinished), and ask if they can recommend anyone. With luck, they might say they know “just the perfect person” without any hesitation. Worst case, they...

Re: Broken plastic where vibrato inserts into the tail.
Bummer
My Home Depot is pretty messed up too. I didn’t look at the sku just eyeballed it. Ace hardware is a good bet too.
You might try an assortment kit on Amazon, it’s about $12-15 and multiples.
Mcmaster is great but not for saving $$.
Failing that, I can try to mail you one.

Re: Broken plastic where vibrato inserts into the tail.
Hey notes You can loosen that set screw and just use the bar to push it out from the rear. I actually just got home from home despot and picked up two of these $1 parts. You should be able to clear the old broken piece without any drilling and then insert the new piece. Get it set where you want hei...

Re: Springs, shmings
Lol. Not quite $10 but shipping was just as expensive as the shell. I had looked for years, and was overjoyed to find this, and my beat up artist shell. It is very fun to play- there’s a little extra resonance from the strings behind the bridge, and it’s very slinky. I didn’t like the pups at first ...

Re: Springs, shmings
I’m sure it’ll still be prettier than the three Flys I intend to paint. Like Pat, I’m all about that Silver Surfer vibe the swirl gives me. Thanks much! I used to paint cars when I was a teen, and then product prototypes when I was in grad school. I do know what I’m doing. But I have to say there i...

Re: Broken plastic where vibrato inserts into the tail.
Wiguitar on eBay has them for about $14 I think. Or, there are nylon bushings at the hardware store that don’t look as nice, but cost about $1 and will never break. You might have to drill out the center a little bit to match the od on your bar. Just as an example, I think it’s this one, but not sur...

Thanks Patrick! There are parts of it that I love and a few where I messed up a little but it was more about the problem solving for me.

Aka mojo surgery (what madness is this) for people from the old forum. :D Finally decided I wanted to play this more than I wanted to invest lots of time wet sanding and polishing. So, I found the parts while unpacking other stuff and decided to just put it together. It’s been a long project… but re...

Re: Non-OEM Fly Cases
Love the Levi gig bag! I have two generic Levi bags too, basically triangular, also great.
Failing that, I’d check into mono cases, seem really sturdy and well designed.
