Re: Replicate Fly piezo electronics
I'll make the necessary tweak to that pot connection. Thanks. Your comments have been invaluable and I will at some point do another remod on this guitar to do the full Fly Classic update. This was a good learning project. The nice thing about these Fly models are that they are relatively cheap, eas...

Re: PDF85 wiring questions
Cool. Yeah I’m going to take a look at what I have tonight. The Fluence kit came with a few caps and an active output jack. Now that I have a diagram I am going to look at the layout and clip the leads to desolder etc and take inventory. I also need to do a little better wire management because it’s...

mmmguitar wow, your reply is PRICELESS, thank you so much for your time! All valid points, and don't get me started on the pup rabbit hole, been there, done that a "few" times. Now, some extra infos on my side. I've been playing strictly with Fractal gear since 2011 when I sold every sing...

Re: Most trouble-free solution (tracking-wise) for guitar synth?
Having sold two guitars in the past week means that I am very much fighting the urge to buy that VG99 setup; and am hoping to continue telling myself that it would be redundant to the GR-55/SY-1000/Axe FX rig I've had in mind.

Re: Most trouble-free solution (tracking-wise) for guitar synth?
I've have two systems currently (triple play & a rmc poly drive -> gp10.) The latter is in a fly and the former a godin. The GP10 is nice since I can run each of the string channels into my daw and do pitch to midi in jam origin per string, or use the onboard midi from the gp10. There's always d...

**SOLD** '97 Trans Blue Classic MIDI
This is a bit of an experiment: I have the guitar listed for a one week auction on eBay to better gauge demand; and will update the "What is This Worth?" thread to reflect my findings. Should the guitar not sell on eBay for whatever reason, I'll be updating this post to list it here for a ...

Re: Strings - I tried NYXL and was disappointed
I know it’s an older post, but I use curt mangan strings. I had some custom sets made. Personally I like 10, 13, 20, 30, 40, 50 with the G being wound. But you can design whatever setup you choose. He also makes acoustic guitar and bass strings as well. I’ve stuck with those ever since the first ord...

Re: Please Help Me Diagnose My Fly Deluxe
You could test the output jack by attaching wires on the back tabs of the jack before the signal goes through the jack but you may have to clear some of the plastic heat shrink covering the tabs to get to them. Or easier if your confident follow the wires backwards from the output switch to the tabs...

Parker Fly Mojo - Seymour Duncan Pickup Replacement?
Hey all, I'm new here, but I used to be part of the official forum a long time ago. Glad to see a place still exists for all this information. My Parker (an '07 Fly Mojo Flame) took a back seat for a while. My style of music changed, so I went through a few other guitars that were more fitting. My F...

Re: Need help identifying my new Fly
In case anyone has excess disposable income, there is a Butternut Fly on Reverb for ~$17K. Also a Butternut body blank for ~$2800, in case you own a computer-controlled machining setup, or otherwise feel inspired to roll-your-own. There are several nice Fly's on Reverb now for surprisingly high aski...

Re: Gus's Byzantine Fly Mod
the breakout box ends up requiring a second 13 pin cable which is money and, depending on length, tone. Though true, I also wouldn't be too concerned with tone-suck in the bigger scheme: The "tone" is already compromised by way of the buffering from the Sustainiac preamp and piezo preamp,...

Re: Gus's Byzantine Fly Mod
Likely this choice will depend on if the piezo system has stereo switching incorporated. From what I can tell, the Poly drive doesn't. That reminds me to ask if you intend to run TRS and 13 pin-outs simultaneously? I ask because, supposedly, the hex pre pin 7 input for the mag signal will trigger a...

Re: Gus's Byzantine Fly Mod
In your wiring, does the 13 pin power the hexpander with the Sustainer having battery power? Or is it shared/something else? It's the former. I had once planned to make a breakout box similar to the Belew's; in which the Sustainiac would be powered via a regulated 9 volt supply sent up pin 9 of the...

I suggest being mentally prepared to find you have to shallow out the internal side of the potentiometer shaft holes with a forstner bit Noted: yeah I am very fond of planning for the best and preparing for the worst. Good tip. If you happen to go with MIDI/piezo volume, I put these Alpha B250K con...

Re: Gus's Byzantine Fly Mod
Ideally, I'll have all the controls set up without having to drill anything. Though I hope that remains the case, I suggest being mentally prepared to find you have to shallow out the internal side of the potentiometer shaft holes with a forstner bit to get a fastening nut over the first thread of ...

Re: Hunt for a fly to mod (WTB, US West Coast)
Have you used these? If so, which piezo assembly did you use it with? How was it compared to other stuff you've used? Are the “these” you’re referring to the GK5, the RMC stuff, or just all the general 13 pin stuff we’ve mentioned? Also: Were you intending to go with Alan Hoover’s Sustainiac, or a ...

Re: Hunt for a fly to mod (WTB, US West Coast)
I'll keep an eye out for a decent beater, Augustonian . I don't know what your budget is - but I periodically see '90s Flys exhibiting nothing worse than body chips pop up for under $2,500 (such as this '95 emerald Deluxe ), and sometimes under $2k. The ones which pop up for under $2k don't stay up ...

Re: A few questions from a new Fly owner
Thanks for the photos, DownRight (And a big thank you to VJ for the trade offer). If you keep raising the bridge height by turning the adjustment screws in the rear of the guitar counterclockwise, the posts for the trem will eventually decouple from the ends of the height adjustment screws (this is ...

A few questions from a new Fly owner
Hello all, I'm the proud owner of a 2003 Mojo, my first Parker Fly. I've done my best to spare you all from my questions, but I'm a bit stuck and hoping you might be able to help me out. My first question is related to the vibrato setup... I've watched the video and read through the guide here, whic...

I'll get the requisite glamour shots out of the way: in case.JPG outside 1.JPG outside 2.JPG outside 3.JPG According to the COA, it was completed 3/2/09. First of all: VJ is to blame for this one. He dangled a transatlantic carrot before me! At some point, my Reverb listing visibility settings must ...
