Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

sorry to hear that :( the partially detached one I glued back in august seems to be staying in place but.. in the meantime the first fret, which previous owner told me he had re-glued himself after it had fallen off, just popped out of the neck one day.. with no specific reason! It's been two months...

Re: Any spare pre-refined knobs?

just in case anyone needs them.. Mike/wi-guitar on ebay seems to have some pre-refined knobs in his stock even if he has not listed them (only nitefly knobs are listed)..
but send a photo of the pre-refined knob to him to be sure you are on the same page!! :)

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

Hi all, just a "final" update on this.. I've solved my issue for the moment by setting a *slightly* higher action (via bridge screws) than the one I had right after the "fix job" (I had removed the bridge to avoid throwing the still new strings :)) One day I'll try the complete r...

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

@Patzag, @billy : thank you both!
I think after this "half failure" I've gained a bit of confidence. I'll let it rest for a while and (when I gather the courage :D) eventually do as you suggest.
cheers

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

hi all, i promised to report how the partially lifted fret repair job would end up ... and now I will, since couple of hourse ago I decided I had the (few) tools I thought I'd need and ... the courage to attempt ... my tools were mainly the zap glue suggested by vj, a cutter, a clamp, a 10 radius fr...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

hi vjmanzo thanks as always for your help. I had looked at that photo more couple of times but didn't notice the different lenghts of the two "sides". I finally tried to glue my partially lifted fret today (I'll expand on that on the original thread) and to avoid removing the (new) strings...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

Hi, looking at the Parts list.. I see for Bridge bearing post and post bushing both longer AND shorter versions are listed. Can you help me clarify the difference and where each is used? different models of the Fly? or maybe I just don't understand how they work exactly.. (I was not able to remove t...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

I too framed a malicious french seller.. who over time was "selling" the same red classic over and over in different sites. It was fun.. I had to do a bit of investigation.. including subscribing to a toys online community where the same username had scammed another user.. :) Apparently th...

Any spare pre-refined knobs?

Hi all, the Fly Deluxe I finally (as documented elsewhere :D) managed to get had its master volume and magnetic volume knobs replaced with metal dome ones. The prev owner was sure he would be able to find the original ones but failed (so far) to comply. I would *really* like to restore this guitar t...

Re: Fly weight?

thanks vj, I'll do!
I had seen those referenced in the Parts List you linked which seem to be exactly the same as the originals bar the white (or blue) "line" and I regret not buying a few while I was visiting US: now it'd cost me some absurd shipping to get them.
silly me

Re: Fly weight?

talking about knobs, but going a bit out of topic.. (maybe I'll post this separately in a more relevant topic) does anyone here on the forum has a couple of original (plastic/rubber) spare knobs? In the pre-refined I bought they were replaced with metal dome knobs... which I *really* would like to r...

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

One last comment. I just checked with previous owner (we are kinda friends after all the interactions ahah). Years ago the first fret fell out completely and he had it reattached with "attak" glue (cyanoacrylate). Apparently it's working fine after few years. At the time, his luthier had s...

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

Patzag : well.. you know what.. I'll go for it :) I wanna test my luck as well ahah I'll try on that one fret where the issue is really audible. I'll grab vj's suggested glue in my upcoming US trip and try the repair when I'm back in italy mid june. and report the results with some photos then! tha...

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

thank you all for your help and insights: this is really a great community! :) I'm really torn here, between vjmanzo stating that "it didn't work at all" for him and Patzag who's happy with the results. to try myself I would: 1) buy this glue suggested by VJ in the main fret thread: Pacer ...

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

Patzag thank you so much! I had already read through that thread, watched the video, etc.. but upon re-checking after your suggestion I noticed I had missed the one key question which was exactly matching my "scenario". It seems consensus is on removing it and re-glueing.. but no way I fe...

Fly partially detached fret(s) issue

Hi again, I'm sorry to pollute the forum with all these help requests :( Further playing my new '97 Fly deluxe has highlighted something I didn't notice in the first days of excitement. Playing the high E string at third fret I realized there was a "zzing" sound which I initially attribute...

Re: New Fly Owner: help on a couple of issues! :)

mmmguitar well .. I couldn't wait too long :D Today I removed the broken spring, the strings, and after some work, the bridge (one of the two bridge "hex screws" seemed to be loose, but in the end I managed to unscrew both) and was able to shift the bridge a bit as per your animation. It ...
