Re: STILL THE ONE!

Hi All, As @Peaches posted, my Fly is once again fully functional! I want to thank all who posted (you know who you are), helping to diagnose the malfunction. When it seemed my perceived options were pretty much exhausted, Peaches stepped in and declared "I'd be happy to fix it". This past...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Thanks @Peaches for your response & offer to fix my Fly. Can't conclusively answer your question as to the degree to which all pots & switches have been tested. My go-to guitar tech, Frank C. did test "pretty thoroughly", but to my knowledge, didn't desolder & isolate all compo...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Hi all, Getting back as to status of my '96 Deluxe. Prompting issue for discussion has been that master volume no longer operates properly when piezo/mag toggle is in mid position (both piezo & mags on). We were aware of a tear in the flex PCB at the piezo vol/tone pot. I recently replaced that ...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Thanks @Patzag for your response & generous offer. Based on all of the above input/posts, I'm going to replace the flex PCB, without any further testing. We know that there are a couple broken wires in existing flex PCB. We'll see what happens, & take it from there. I'll let you know what ha...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Hi all, Thanks @Patzag for asking for status update on my '96 Fly. It seems that we're at an impass as to formulating a complete strategy for a fix. At this juncture, I'm not inclined to undertake modifying the Fishman Powerchip as a substitute for the original Fly preamp. I feel that there are too ...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Hi @vjmanzo, Nice to know Shania's guitarist plays Parker(s). Don't know much about Bronze/Concert. I've seen that Joni Mitchel has played a Parker which has no visible (mag) pickups, I'm thinking that must be what she must have been playing. Having severe country leanings in my own playing, a frien...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Thanks for your post @patzag: Have to say, don't think I've ever seen anyone playing country on a Parker, so maybe not so surprising about Shania. I remember hearing her Still the One, now that you mentioned it. Can't copyright a title. Learning about so much more than Parker guitars on this forum!

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Ok @vjmanzo, you busted me for reference to Still The One song by Orleans, (circa 1975). Had no idea, (or had forgotten) it was used in a hamburger commercial! Would a highly moral songwriter allow this to happen to his song? (Just kidding) You're apparently way younger than I if '96 was your childh...

Re: Olive Branch: a Ken Parker archtop

Stunning! I've been watching quite a few YouTube videos of various guitars, amps, & effects units. I've concluded that, if one wants to sell a piece of equipment, get a great player to demo it. It makes all the difference in showing what that equipment can optimally sound like. The said, you cou...

Re: Radiant Angels

Thanks @mmmguitar & @vjmanzo for kind words regarding Radiant Angels. I've got a few more recordings started & will post in time. There is a high riff in the fade out at end of Radiant Angels that's significant (to me at least) in that the Fly is the only guitar I own which can be used to pl...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Hi Folks, Firstly, thanks @vjmanzo for your insights regarding KP's approach to design/build. I'm a woodworker myself by day & have been keenly interested in Ken's innovations & philosophy. I'm continuing to plan a fix of my '96 Fly Deluxe. I've asked my go-to guitar/amp tech, Frank Consigli...

Radiant Angels

tusker9 here (a.k.a. Randy Patterson) Here's a recording of Radiant Angels, a song co-writtern with friend, poet, songwriter, Tim Joyce. Basic song recorded in Logic Pro. All electric guitar parts played on my '96 Parker Fly Deluxe, (possibly some electric guitar parts played on my Parker P-36). Lea...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Hi all, Many thanks, as always, to @vjmanzo, @Patzag, & @mmmguitar, for your immensely helpful input. Special thanks to Patzag for your generous offer to possibly part with your spare preamp. You've provided much to chew on here, with a few new options. I've found myself getting hung up about cl...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Thanks @vjmanzo & @Patzag for your responses to my last post. My Parker did fall, face down, from the guitar stand at a gig, within the last year. Had to do quick instrument change at a show, it didn't set correctly in the stand, & down she went. (Was totally bummed about it, as you can imag...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Hi Folks, Still trying to diagnose issue where master volume does not operate when mag/piezo toggle is in mid position. I've been consulting with my local guitar/amp tech. He found 2 broken wires in flexible PCB that he says only affect piezo tone control. I've considered replacing flexible PCB with...

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Thanks @Patzag for your input.

I'll test with multimeter when I get a chance. I saw that the toggle switch has a source listed on FlyClone parts page.

Help & platform much appreciated!

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Note about my previous post: I had written it like a spread sheet with columns & rows, but spacing got deleted in the post, but to clarify, the second MV reading (right most) is always "button in".

Sorry for the confusion.

Re: STILL THE ONE!

Thanks @Patzag for your response - To answer your question, here's what I found: using mono guitar cord, with both mag PU & piezo PU full on, execpt where noted, Mag/piezo toggle Position Red button out: Red button in: back position (piezo only) MV position: full on no signal vol (0%) 100% signa...
