Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

Well I don't want to chop down an original one... I suppose I could track down a hex wench of the appropriate size and chop it down? You might've got yours from the Parker Guitars forum member called "908 SSP"? I remember he was making those back in the day... I think he was selling them ...

Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

Nice work @Paul Marossy ! But do tell...what's your problem with the vibrato? B.S. Huh? My vibrato is working fine… but I don’t really like the design of the arm - it’s too long. Very hard to do Jeff Beck type whammy stuff that is easy to do on a Strat. I bought a short arm on Ebay or somewhere lik...

Ekornbakke wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 5:27 pm Oh no, I'll keep the stereo/mono switch and functionality. My point was to insert an extra switch like this in place of the master volume.
Oh ha ha I see. That’s not a bad idea but it requires a much larger hole than the pot does.

Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

The only thing I know of that would be flat is a push button switch but the problem with that is you can’t physically see or feel what position the switch is in. I came to think about a button that already exists on the pre-refined Fly. The switch next to the jack input. The hole it requires may no...

Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

A couple of years ago I found a way to incorporate a coil tapping switch without changing the look of the guitar, no drilling any new holes. It did require me to decommission the master volume, which I never used anyway. Dear Paul, I really like this mod and I will have my local tech perform it on ...

Re: Hi Everyone

Hello everyone, I finally purchased my first Parker Fly. I had always wanted one from the moment I saw them at my local guitar center back in the mid to late 90's. I recently was fortunate to buy a 1995 Parker fly Deluxe hardtail. Looks like I'm the 3rd owner of this amazing guitar. Does anyone kno...

Re: Hi Everyone

ok, my memory is buffering :D. I never used it much live because hauling two amps and the PA for the drum machine (& vocals) plus Maria's monster Ampeg 8x10+SVT was already too much for my skinny arse. Plus the 1st time I tried that on our first live show I brought a Peavy 5150 and a Fender twi...

Car manufacturers must be very happy that people don't say "OMG it doesn't look like a '55 Chevy" or "Why can't it look like a '55 Chevy?" when they put a new car out on the market. We’ll said, Paul. Did you ever read this interview Ken have with the New Yorker? https://www.newy...

The older those Flys get, the more valuable firsthand troubleshooting documentation becomes. +1 to that comment! And agreed: thanks for doing that, Paul 🙏 Thanks. Glad someone out there thinks so. It's a shame that Parker is now defunct. Car manufacturers must be very happy that people don't say &q...

1flyBOBs

How many of y'all are still getting use out of those 1flyBOB and/or 1flyBOB variants that I used to make?

Re: Hello! Long time Fly Supreme owner, just found this forum! (And need a little help...)

Here’s an on-topic video originally made by a guy in Vegas in 2019. Sadly, he couldn’t repair the saddle; and ended up sourcing a replacement. That's my video. I haven't totally given up on the idea of repairing it but I am having trouble finding conductive epoxy. Super Glue doesn't work because it...

Re: Hi Everyone

Welcome Paul, nice to see you here. I didn't realize you weren't here, as I don't spend nearly the time on the forum that I used to. If you're in touch with anyone else from there that isn't here, please point this site out to them. I just learned about this place like maybe a month ago. I will let...

Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

Good to see you again Paul, glad you’re still circuit bending. This is cool stuff, love the split humbucking set up. Not a fan of rotary switches on guitars personally- lots of torque that can mess up the wood and then they spin. I’d be inclined to cut a rectangular hole in the back plate and use a...

Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

I have to get the exact dimensions of the switch that I found, but possibly something like this would work. https://smallbear-electronics.mybigcommerce.com/rotary-switch-2p2t/ That should fit under the PCB. Really is meant to be PCB mounted but still is usable I think. The main question is that sha...

Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

I think the solution is actually a rotary switch rather than a push pull design. Pretty sure that won't fit under the PCB either... and you still have to give up a control unless you're drilling holes. And there is the knob problem. If you give up a control for the rotary switch then you probably c...

Re: My Coil Tap Mod for Three More Sounds

Pretty cool Paul. The thing for me is that I use the master volume all the time and never use the actual magnetic volume. I would totally be into that mod but I would want to use the magnetic volume for it. The master volume is way too useful for me. Yeah the problem is that if you use a push-pull ...
