Re: Electronic issue

Well… the issue has nothing to do with the Fly, it’s the wireless transmitter. Huge relief! Gregsaab for those of us following along at home, do you mind mentioning the brand of transmitter? And, if you know, why this occurred and the fix? Just help broaden the knowledge pool..I've never heard of t...

It finally happened...Re-gluing a fret!

So as some of you may know, one of my main gigs has been with a circus. In fact, the man himself Ken Parker came to see us perform when we were in Boston way back when..2013? Sometime around then anyways.. One of the things about this gig is that it can be kinda rough on equipment, especially during...

Re: tightening the cable plug - how?

Gotta say, IMHO, I think this is the one thing that our dear Ken didn't get quite right. I mean, it's a lovely elegant design etc, but requiring a specialist bespoke tool to undo the jack on a frigging electric guitar for chrissakes!!! ;) Of all things, what should be the simplest task to un...

Re: tightening the cable plug - how?

It's on my Fly deluxe. It feels like the instrument cable should be tighter as you insert it into the Jack. It feels like it could almost fall out of the input jack on the guitar. Not quite, but you don't have to use hardly any force when pulling the cable out. Is that normal on a Pre-refined Fly d...

Re: Saddle threading stripped

Hiya! Hmmm...the bridge on Fly's is machined aluminium (I believe)..aluminium is quite soft.. where I'm heading is re-cutting the thread might be more trouble than it's worth, plus I reckon you'd end up having to enlarge the hole a bit and etc etc... The bridges themselves are pretty hard to find, a...

Re: High E slipping off saddle on low trem dives

Yeah I've never heard of this either, have the same saddles and haven't had it occur... it might be that raising the action is the only viable solution. I had the string getting caught under the pickup problem for many years after I bought the guitar, ended up modifying my pick hand technique slight...

Re: Maintenance Kit

Well a basic maintenance kit is just pliers and feeler gauges really, and yeah the automotive cheap ones work just fine. And a capo for the first fret string hold down. I usually don't even use feelers these days, you can eyeball/feel the neck relief close enough. But if you've got sudden fret buzz,...

Body/neck material, tuners, nut etc are negligible compared to to pups/electronics when it comes to the basic tonal characteristics of a solid body.
