Re: SD pickup thread screw info
Heard my name… The screws are 5-40. Where the first number indicates a diameter and the second number is how many threads per inch aka “pitch”. I’ve never found a 5-40 threaded insert. I imagine these were custom made probably in batches of 1000. I bought these 4-40 inserts amazon.com/Z-Threaded-Ins...

Re: Something goes wrong during big bends (B and E strings)
I think I recall an issue with certain plugs/cables not seating correctly- especially the ones with a “kill” switch built in to avoid noise when connecting.

Re: Guide: Making Fly Backplates
This is great! I did mine a a little bit differently a few years back but I had some tools that most people likely don’t have. I started by taping a piece of copy paper over the cavity and then making a crayon rubbing to get the holes and cavity edges (kids were still little at the time- crayons eve...

Re: Fly partially detached fret(s) issue
Agree with Patrick- remove and reinstall. But want to add you may have bent the fret when you lifted it.
You can remove the excess glue with acetone but just use a little at a time. Don’t flood it, and be sure to keep it away from the paint.

Re: WTB: Supreme, Artist, or some such instrument
Hypothetical question, Pat: if you had a Fly Bronze, would you consider routing pickup cavities? 😬 I mean…that’s blasphemy, right?! 😊 But would you??? It would be identical to a hardtail Fly Artist once you added the magnetic pickups. 🤷 No one's asking me, but: Not only would I do it (in HSS config...

Re: How To Fix a Stuck Vibrato Arm Set Screw
One key to a flutter on a Floyd style is to make sure the bridge is not higher on one side or the other. This helps keep the knife edges aligned in the same plane. When they are a little off plane, it seems some of that bar vibration goes elsewhere. I can’t say for sure if this would be the same on ...

Re: Battery compartment "in body" cover
Awesome VJ! I think there are certain types of SS that are magnetic already. But a regular black oxide steel set screw should fit the existing holes in the body, and without the head you can adjust the depth as needed.

Re: Leaning Post
Ah, didn’t notice the second video. I see a little bit of the bearing showing between the bass side of the bridge and the post but personally I wouldn’t worry about it. Some people had it slide back and forth enough that they added a 1mm thick square profile oring between the bearing and the post. U...

Re: Battery compartment "in body" cover
I realized I never answered the snap tabs question. I think squeeze snaps could be a good idea. I’m not sure the cavity has an appropriate lip to provide a catch, but that could be added without too much trouble. However atm I’m thinking that neodymium magnets might be a good way to do this, with ma...

Re: Hace unos 16 años que la tengo y ahora quiero aprender
The good news is that there aren’t many parts on your fly that might break if they haven’t already. I’d buy a spare flat spring but yours is probably more ok than not. Maybe a replacement jack, pots, and switches. It might be worth driving your guitar to have it worked on- you’ll want schedule this ...

Re: Leaning Post
Hard to say what’s happening without seeing the guitar, and your video only shows the post moving relative to the bridge. Some of the usm Parker’s had bushing holes drilled a little bit wide relative to the bridge. This would allow some side to side movement but typically wasn’t a huge problem. I’m ...

Re: Parker Fly PPG Paint Codes
You can try this place for touch ups, they should be able to match it in available bases with modern color matching systems.

You’ll want to use a clear touch up of some kind on top.

I’ve got some delrin bushings I had custom made. Should never break like the molded ones that come stock.

Yeah, I understand.
You might look for someone who builds stomp boxes nearby, maybe on Craigslist or post on one of the stompbox forums.
Should be an easy fix for them.

Re: LED Re-soldering
Leds do have polarity.
Your tech should know or be able to figure it out, and if not, then maybe not the right person to do the repair. That said, 50/50 chance either way
Watch the iron temp, both for the health of the led and the aging pcb.
