Re: Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?
This is basically the USA-made bolt-on MaxxFly guitars - DF524, 624, 724. Ya know, I hadn’t look at them that way, but I think you’re right on, jester700 🙏 Thanks for that. I’m not familiar with those models, so I think I need to educate myself (V.J. said to himself sneakily in order to justify his...

Re: Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?
It seems to me that with all the modern manufacturing tools, materials and automation, a strategy that could kill all those poor birds with one stone would be to solve the problem of creating a cutting edge guitar that could be manufactured easily and cheaply and then find a way to resist the tempt...

Re: Springs
Yes, Bigpig63 everything mmmguitar said is spot on (thanks, Marc!). Thank you, also, for the kind words. I’ll just add that the Fly patents have all expired at this point. Regardless, Ken has been as helpful as he can be with this effort. As Marc suggested, a time-consuming part of this effort has b...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
Just posting a PSA for anyone considering buying the ‘99 maple Classic… Thanks, Marc; I saw that one pop up today and had similar mixed feelings: one the one hand, it’s true that it’s a rarer Fly, but certain sellers have an asterisk for me when I see them, and, even with the consistency of most Fl...

Re: Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?
Every guitarist that I ever let play my Fly has been blown away by it and almost always says they wanted one. Yes, that’s been my experience as well! One thing that I think may be a strike against the Fly, however, is that even though they’re in many ways easier to play than most guitars, they also...

Re: Genuine Parker Lover - looking for Bronze or Nylon/Spanish Fly in good working condition
Hi Koyunbaba —thanks for posting! Great looking Fly! I’ve seen these go for around $4k, which is oddly about what they sold for new in the late ‘90s; it’s anybody’s guess what someone may be willing to pay for one as they’re much less common than the Fly Deluxe and Fly Classic. It could fetch $4,500...

Re: Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?
It’s telling that a mad scientist who eats cantaloupe every day is one of the only people willing to keep the innovations alive, via this site and its mission. I think that’s a reference to me, so I’d better chime in! 🤣 I think mmmguitar is right on (as usual!), DanMumm —Ken still is very muc...

Love it! Thanks for sharing, @berlinix! I'll keep the sharing going—here's @Ken Parker talking about when he met Joni Mitchell and built her that Fly (at 1:09:54):

Nothin’ to see here—just a bunch of early Fly bridge prototypes Ken Parker keeps in a box 🙂 D5AA5BAD-C086-4112-80DA-3394ABF04E43.jpeg 10D08611-A691-4102-A772-35E9406B7BFB.jpeg C4CC5D6E-89A2-4566-8CA9-35EF93B9F2EF.jpeg A67ADE1E-BF74-4BA6-84D8-1075B6C6913F.jpeg 9FF50C34-20F7-426C-9EF2-A0CBE92CFBCB.jpe...

The Mythical ‘92 Fly Deluxe
The first production Fly guitars were from 1993 and had Redwood necks and basswood bodies thus denoted with the serial letters RP (as opposed to the latter BP for basswood and poplar). The basswood poplar combination was chosen for production models by Ken Parker after the use of redwood necks witho...

By “amplitude” do you mean pitch bend range? If so, see this post from @mmmguitar!
