Re: Parker fly electronics repair specialist UK!

Did you make any progress with this?

Where are you located?

Although not a Fly specialist as such I had my Deluxe fixed by Ollie at Frettronics in Glasgow recently and he got it working perfectly.

Re: Fretwire height

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. It would be nice to hear @Ken Parker has to say on the subject too.

By the way is everyone aware that Ken is taking part in a zoom forum about innovative guitar design at Harvard tomorrow along with Ulrich Teufell and others. Should be interesting.

Re: Fretwire heigh

Thanks VJ Yes it would be helpful if you could check for me. Cheers. I know I can level the frets as normal (albeit with a bit more work than usual) however once you start down this road it may be the start of a slippery slope which could be avoided if they are still in the original state. I’m famil...

Fretwire height

Can anyone confirm the original (out of the factory) fret height on the pre-refined Flys? I have a few slightly high spots on mine and I want to level the frets. However, after reading Ken’s article about the stainless steel they used, and watching the fretwork video from the factory, it appears unl...

Re: Remove output jack socket

Thanks. It should be fairly easy to make something similar. If I ever need to do it again I'll give it a shot.

Re: Strange Clicking noise is driving me mad

Thanks rsdio I have tried with my phone on Airplane mode etc but it was still clicking. It isn't clicking anymore at the moment but will be keeping a close eye on when and where it happens to try and isolate anything that might be causing interference. Regarding the watch. I actually have the opposi...

Re: Strange Clicking noise is driving me mad

It doesn’t domit with any other guitar though. I have had the electrics checked by an electrician because I was having a problem with an amp a couple of years ago, the electrics checked out fine the amp had an issue which my tech resolved. Grounding issues in houses are relatively rare in the UK. I ...

Re: Strange Clicking noise is driving me mad

A quick update. I tried replacing the output jack in case it was faulty. The socket was definitely loose and the guitar lead would slip partway out unless hooked tightly between my strap and the guitar body. The new output jack has solved the looseness problem but the clicking is still as bad as eve...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

So, I ended up going for brute force after all  Fortunately it worked. With a 1.5mm allen key in the hole and a bit of pressure it finally moved enough to get started. Once moving it was easy enough to unscrew by hand. The old jack came out no problem and the new one works perfectly in its plac...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

Thanks VJ. I figured that out. And fortunately the replacement jack strap button also screws off so it looks like it is going to work as a direct replacement. However, the issue is how to actually get the black part off. There is a little hole in it which looks like it is used with a tool. I don't h...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

Can anyone tell me the secret of how to remove the jack socket on a Deluxe? At the moment I am leaning towards "brute force and ignorance" but think there must be a better method. I assume the little hole in the end cover is to hold or turn it with but it seems pretty tight and I don't wan...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

I noticed the little hole in the end cap so was planning on using an Allen Key or something to stabilise it but haven’t seen the correct tool. Have you seen/got a picture of the wrench? I imagine it should be easy enough to improvise something.

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

Is this correct one? https://www.stewmac.com/electronics/components-and-parts/jacks/fishman-switchjack-endpin-jack.html Actually, on further digging it looks like the Fishman is a rebranded Switchcraft 4 connector stereo end pin. Could this be the case? Would this work? If so it would be a lot cheap...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

This is a really great resource. thanks guys. I notice that the output jack is still showing as to be confirmed. Is there any news on this? I want to replace the output jack on my 96 Deluxe but seem to remember that they are quite specific and difficult to locate. Am I remembering this correctly or ...

Strange Clicking noise is driving me mad

Hi Guys I had some electrical issues with my 1997 Fly Deluxe earlier this year. One of them was due to a faulty piezo saddle which I replaced and that fixed the problem. However, I still have the other issue which affects only the magnetic pickups. Now that everything else is working fine this mag p...

Re: Pre refined classic in Ireland

Hi Mr303 sorry for the tardy reply. I haven't been in the forum for a while and just noticed your question today.

My was made on 30th June 1997 if I'm reading the serial number correctly.
