Re: Springs

Man I legit loose sleep at night over my poor fly spring and all the abuse I give it on the daily. But I can't bring myself to stop using it, so I just flirt with disaster every time I whap that bar for a flutter.

Yes someone swapped those pickups around at some point. If swap them back, reset EVERYTHING to noon and start over, but that's just me.

Get the NYXL set, the plain ones not the coated ones. Well worth it, that’s all I’ll bother with on my fly now.

Re: Springs

This is the aspect of my fly obsession that keeps me up at night. Literally everything else I can do a work around for and stay up and running. But if I run out of springs, my Parker just rots in its case. Yes I could block it off, but I just don’t get on with hard tails, and the fly trem is just su...

Have you tried new strings yet? Best to rule out the simple stuff first. If you put a fresh set on when you bought it, put on another G string.

Not a Parker

So here’s the deal. I’m looking for a replacement 7 string for my current Ibanez S7420 7 string. While a Parker 7 string fly or maxxfly would be ideal, actually acquiring one is another story. So what else do you think comes close to ticking those Parker-esque quality boxes? Super light weight, exce...

Re: Fly Fret Repair Procedures (Parker Guitars video and document)

Gorilla glue tends to expand as it cures, I wouldn’t use that on a fret personally.
I’ve been a luthier for 15 years and have even repaired many frets on Parkers, I always use thin Stewart Macdonald super glue and have never had one fail.

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

That’s mostly correct, but I know a couple original parts on my 97 classic are a little different, and I have sources exact replacements. I’ma luthier and bit of a fly guy myself and do a fair amount of work on them. I’ll look up where I got those parts and share if you care to add it to your list.

Re: Cherry ‘07 classic on Reverb

Yikes! I would low ball the hell out of that. Maybe take a grand off and offer him $800-900. The chips on the weakest part of the whole instrument are all but a deal breaker for me and anyone who really knows Parker’s.
