Re: Repairing surface damage around Artist neck joint
Guitarhawk60 , I moved your post to its own thread. Firstly, allow me to reassure you that it appears to be repairable, and perhaps even not as bad as it looks in some areas: Most of the photos demonstrate what appears to be cosmetic damage - When you removed the strings, was the neck shifting at ...

Re: How to buy a Parker Archtop
It's a curiosity to me about how can we buy an archtop not on a used market, but directly from Ken himself and if so what would be a ballpark for a price range?
While you're waiting for someone with more firsthand experience to reply:
You can message Ken directly on this site, Facebook ...

Re: Most trouble-free solution (tracking-wise) for guitar synth?
Thanks so much for all this info. I have always been interested in using midi guitar but I know that it would be a deep, deep rabbit hole for me. Probably not going there anytime soon but bookmarking for when I do.
What's funny about the Roland stuff is that there's actually no MIDI unless you ...

Re: Fly bridge install issues
Mike987 , you may have hit the nail on the head with accidentally swapping the bridge posts (I once managed to do that after having taken the time to label each one - I think I slapped my forehead with both palms once I bottomed out on the low E side and realized what had happened). But, as VJ said ...

Re: Piezo silent in Stereo Mode
When I have my Parker Fly in stereo mode (red button in the "out" position") I noticed my piezo stops working/goes silent. It works normally in mono mode though. The magnetic pickups work fine in all modes. Is the piezo behaving like this abnormal? And if so does anyone have an idea for a solution ...

Re: Please help with advice about playability of a new Fly Deluxe
The black material on your Fly headstock is the same material as the fingerboard. If you don't see a pattern on either, it could be as simple as the epoxy layer over the CF being opaque. I think I've owned seven Flys; and not all of them had visible patterns in the CF - Sometimes the material is ...

Re: Please help with advice about playability of a new Fly Deluxe
I’m starting to suspect that the fretboard is replaced
Replaced with what? Replacing a Fly fingerboard is no trivial task: They're paper-thin, epoxied on, have their edges painted over, and the frets have no tangs. If you suspect it's been replaced, it likely would have been done by the factory ...

Re: Please help with advice about playability of a new Fly Deluxe
Kriss , apologies for the delay in responding to your question about the visible pattern in the carbon fiber. I had a vague memory of someone from the factory explaining in a post here or in the FB groups why there were different patterns (something to do with wax paper laid on the epoxy for the ...

Re: Please help with advice about playability of a new Fly Deluxe
Kriss , on a Fly, you typically only need a truss adjustment to correct one of two symptoms: if you're getting buzz in the first four frets or so (insufficient relief compensated for by loosening the truss), or if the string height feels especially high between the seventh and twelfth frets (excess ...

Re: Ribbon cable install?
Kester "44" rosin-core solder does anything I need it to.
Thanks, Marc! Is this the stuff you use?
Yes, and it comes in different diameters (people soldering pots, switches, and jacks might prefer .031" to .020"). I use the 63/37 when I want solder joints to harden immediately (which is ...

Thanks for mentioning those endorsements vjmanzo - I'll likely buy that soldering station and magnetic helping hand for this upcoming year's projects. Re: Gear Acquisition Syndrome much...?
This requires keyboards and a sax to cover Ian McDonald's and Mel Collins' parts (can anyone recommend a good digital woodwind?)
If you're referring to an EWI, I use a Roland AE-30; and it's a fine enough substitute for my real sax that I leave it in its case and keep my neighbors happy. If you ...

Re: Ribbon cable install?
With the red button in one position I get no output. In the opposite, i do get sound.
So you're getting mag and piezo signals in the one position, and nothing in the other? And with a mono 1/4" plug, or a T/R/S stereo plug? I ask because your symptom *could* be indicative of having the "tip ...
