Re: GK-3 mount on Pre-refined
I used Velcro adhesive mounting squares to mount external GK3s to the tops of Flys and Steinbergers where the control box needed to be out of the way of hardware. It’s a cheap and simple solution, but you’ll need a finish-safe solvent such as naphtha to remove the adhesive residue left by both the V...

Re: P38 round vibrato arm.
Jack G , the P38 uses a Wilkinson VS50P Powerbridge with Fishman saddles; and *appears* to use a different diameter trem arm from the Parker trem you see on the more expensive models. Hopefully someone in the know will chime in to confirm. https://fishmanstore.com/products/powerbridge-vs50p-tremolo...

Re: 1998 Fly Supreme
I don't consider myself a collector, either - It's just a very slippery slope that you follow until you find yourself in a valley that has too many guitars to see your way out of. I had to write a note to myself pitching the idea of selling three guitars this month so I'd have room for other guitars.

Re: Alternative/replacement tremolo arm?
It's round - The NiteFly M was after the bar era; so, again, the Reverb store will be open again on July 2nd and you can buy a factory round bar then. All I know is that the M has "two custom Dimarzio humbuckers." I've never seen anyone determine the magnet type or post more than resistanc...

Re: Alternative/replacement tremolo arm?
Welcome, merseymale . If your bridge has a round insert, you can buy that bar off Mike Gallenberger (wiguitar/g.man music). He’ll turn his eBay/Reverb stores back on on July 2nd. https://reverb.com/shop/gmanmusicllc I don’t recall offhand what the diameter of the round bar is, to recommend cheaper s...

Re: 1998 Fly Supreme
The attack of a piezo element, as part of an ADSR contour, is so dissimilar to the contour of an actual acoustic guitar that even identical timbral similarities facilitated by an Aura sometimes sound strange. I’ve had success using an 1176 compressor in front or after an Aura to help make the Fly p...

Re: 1998 Fly Supreme
Where I have found it to be more useful than the mags is driving certain IRs, especially acoustic instruments that have similar attack and timbre like dobros, mandolins, and sitars. Dunno if you guys are doing that here but I feel like it's an area I need to explore more. I’m not driving IRs, but I...

Re: 1998 Fly Supreme
My 2011 Supreme has one of the deepest flamed grains I’ve seen pulled off on a Parker, and I’m not babying it - These suckers were made to be played. Granted, they were made to be played by players better than me - But I’m still taking chances with it. :P Glad to read you’re still in love after all ...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
https://reverb.com/item/57147082-parker-nitefly-2000-translucent-blue This is more of what I’m talking about: Here’s a seller who, bless him, saw the group of $1200 NiteFly listings and decided his just had to be worth double that. And if it’s still there in a month - after the more realistically pr...

Re: Crazy High Prices on Parker Flys Lately
That’s some impressive rust, alright. The most I can do is to just try to enjoy the humor provided by these sellers who never saw the guitar as worth maintaining or repairing (over the course of decades , in some cases) suddenly in a hurry to sell their busted Flys the moment they think it’s now “wo...

Re: Crazy High Prices on Parker Flys Lately
Accurate on all fronts, Gary. I think it’s worth pointing out that, just a few weeks ago, we were seeing both higher and lower priced Fly listings; and I expect we’ll have them in July, as well. These asking prices don’t seem to settle in one place for very long.

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
Selling guitars in our sleep, are we? it looks like the going asking price on Reverb is back firmly north of $3k. 🧐 Yep. However, they’ve been sitting at those prices after the listings under $3k sold. Note that our new member’s gold Deluxe with a couple of correctable issues has been sitting at jus...

Re: My Parker P36/P38 hybrid project.
I will post again when above completed. Best of luck. I’m still a bit confused about the internal switching of the pictured five-way - With one tone control, you could use just one “side” of four contacts (neck, middle, and bridge inputs, and the one common/output lug to volume pot), then solder th...

Re: My Parker P36/P38 hybrid project.
Thank you for the concisely detailed text and photos, Jack G - This thread of yours will be a valuable resource to others who find themselves troubleshooting such issues. The issues you’re describing are common; and tend to have a simple cause - Though of course have a way of also being incredibly f...

Re: Need help identifying my new Fly
Intonation adjustment is puzzling - not clear how to slightly move a string that is under tension. I am used to turning little screws (Fender Gibson etc) for occasional intonation tweaks. Each Fly saddle is held against the bridge by the single Allen screw. Assuming the trem and step-top are calibr...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
Did anyone else notice the eBay auction for the white ‘98 Deluxe in Berlin by a user named something like “orientalseller”? eBay seems to have removed the listing. The 0% feedback for the seller and multitude of low bids struck me as suspicious; so I made a low bid as well. 36 bids later, and my bid...

Yeah, that is one good-looking Artist! :o Thanks for posting it, even if it's just for me to drool over! :P I'm curious if it'll sell at that price... I may make an offer on it [update: sold a few hours after I said tha...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread
This ‘98 Artist with hard case, bar, spare spring and manual can be yours for a bit over $4k, after tax. Too rich for my blood, but nonetheless a more realistic price than what some have felt their Artists and Supremes were worth this year. Just two years ago, you could find Artists for under $2k (...

Re: Should I get a P-38 or a P-44?
Welcome, LemonEar . The P series guitars are essentially Fly-shaped Strats that are gateway drugs to NiteFlys and Flys. I suggest going with whichever guitar is cheaper or a lighter weight - You can always swap pickups in or out as your preferences change and, if you decide you dig the guitar’s styl...

Re: Total Refurbish of Trashed Fly Deluxe
Takes way too much work to do this properly This is the number one reason I can procrastinate on undertaking a guitar project for months until I finally work up the nerve. Then I get two two steps in before I have the epiphany of what I probably should have done differently. But at that point, I ha...
