Re: Most trouble-free solution (tracking-wise) for guitar synth?
Bumping to link to some recent posts from the vguitarforums comparing MIDI conversion latency between the GK5+GM800 combo on firmware 1.10 and Fishman TriplePlay, for anyone considering either. The short of it is that the weakest link in the signal path remains the player.

Re: Changing Nitefly Pick Guard
First off, Voxbobby22 : Congrats on scoring another Nitefly - That's the healthiest way of dealing with the first one having ruined other guitars for you. Hopefully we get to see it, soon. Assuming you're just swapping the pickguard for an identically cut one, it's as simple as taking the stri...

Re: Possible DF842 Adrian Belew Signature? (P1412003 MM)
This is becoming a real rabbit hole haha! Agreed. The original routing under each of the pickups appears to be for the double fillister pole piece arrangement Parker was using for the last two years or so of production; in which Seymour Duncan replaced Dimarzio as the OEM pickup supplier. It looks ...

Re: Possible DF842 Adrian Belew Signature? (P1412003 MM)
It would still be cool to make it an Adrian Belew signature if a Sustaniac fits into the neck routing and RMC saddles are still available. That can all be done; with the switching tone pot able to be reproduced - You'll just have the two extra switch holes leftover; which could be mag/mix/13 pin an...

Re: Possible DF842 Adrian Belew Signature?
Vaya , I don't think there's anything to "restore"; as what you have appears to be a one-of-a-kind 2014 custom shop order using the ABDF842's CNC preset as a starting point, but with mostly different components: The Adrian Belew iteration has: - Distinctive control layout and rear routing...

Re: Fly Pickups (Gen 1, Gen 2, and Other)
I just wanted to share my experience with Gen1 vs. Gen2 pickups After owning a Parker Fly Classic for more than 25 years (mine is a 97 which I bought new) and doing a lot of research and trying to find videos, reading posts, etc. last weekend I took the plunge and went ahead and swapped the bridge ...

@Patzag, Sure thing, buddy. No hurry. I'll even mail you one to try out and, if you end up not caring for it, just mail it back. I'm not trying to get rich selling spare pickups - Just decluttering.

**NO LONGER AVAILABLE** Dimarzio Bluesbucker Fly Pickup $72
Being as I'm currently going through my parts boxes and listing spare pickups I don't see myself using in future projects, this Fly-specific Bluesbucker (DP163) I bought for the neck position of my Supreme in 2020 may as well go here in the Classifieds. Because the two Flys I have are outfitted with...

Re: Weird piezo issue
This thing was pretty dirty inside though so it wouldn't surprise me if it's the dust so I'll blow that out well, change strings again and see if that helps. Thanks a lot, will report back. Piezo gremlins can be damned frustrating to narrow down. In case cleaning things for the sake of a better gro...

Re: 3 ridge spring plate
Can someone explain the pros/cons of the three different positions? Is it just that the tremolo is stiffest in the ridge closest to the back of the guitar (I think I have that right)? Does it affect tuning stability at all? Where do most people have this set? fly ridge plate.jpg The ridge positions...

Re: threaded rod for balance wheel is spinning
@mmmguitar I messaged him he told me that (see pics) so from what you say pre refined fly and post and different rods right ? So then how can I identify a pre refined fly rod ? The rods should be the same between the two iterations - The only difference is the tension adjustment wheel. I can confir...

Re: threaded rod for balance wheel is spinning
KenanJ : eBay listing for just the cylinder. For the Reverb listing , Mike has the cylinder listed with a post-2003 Fly tension adjustment wheel. Mike tends to tweak the listings between his store fronts. I recommend anyone looking for a specific factory part message him on either site to see if he...

Re: Weird piezo issue
* * * _ _ _ * * * InsideInfo , have you changed the strings the guitar arrived with, and did the guitar arrive with this issue presenting itself the first time you plugged it in? My first thought is that the string winding and/or ball-end doesn't have sufficient contact with the saddle element and/...

Re: Parker Nitefly NFV2 1997 - body paint lines
If I were to sell this, does it affect the quality much or does this just happen over time? Hopefully I can offer some grounded assurance: In all respects but one, the Nitefly body is identical to any Strat or other typical guitar body made from wood blanks joined with glue, cut to shape, routed to...

Re: 1. Outside Tour Reeves Gabrels Fly Guitar
Bump. The guitar is once again for sale on FB Marketplace . It's now "make an offer", rather than $25k firm. It would, of course, be much cheaper to find a '95 Deluxe, fill the pickup routs and control holes, add thickness to the neck (assuming that spec wasn't exclusive to Reeves' Nitefly...

Re: I need help changing a tremolo spring on a parker fly mojo
KenanJ , if pulling the bar up doesn't release the spring, it can require a bit of force to pry out of its fitting in the T bar slot, even when not under tension. I, VJ, and others have been in the same boat; and share your annoyance with not having been born with the three hands this seems to requ...

Re: Rubber Knob
Are you referring to the Boss GK5 pickup? Yes - Specifically, the GK5-KIT-G6 . Roland has made this extra-confusing in recent years; due to arbitrarily branding new releases "Roland" or "Boss" for marketing purposes. Everything in the GK-Serial generation seems to be "Boss&...

Do tell ... where did you hear of that Roland unit? I'd like to read up on it. There's not much to read, as of yet. Elantric on vguitarforums began teasing it a few months ago [all subsequent quotes are taken from the same thread - I somehow user-errored my way into making all the subsequent post-s...
