Re: 2011 Trans Honey Supreme

Bump. A poster who saw my listing inquired as to the final control layout for the guitar - So here it is (click to enlarge): Supreme rev 3.jpeg Not shown is the Graph Tech Hexpander board; which was wired in a manner typical of what's detailed on Graph Tech's diagram page , with the exception of the...

Re: Fly Deluxe 1994 high E string resistance

KenanJ (click to enlarge) height adjust.jpg Tighten/turn the hex key clockwise to lower the bridge into the body, and loosen/turn counterclockwise to raise the height of the bridge. Because the bridge has a fixed radius, adjusting each side until the string height feels ideal/comfortable will be ne...

The same screws which mount/unmount the pickups determine the overall pickup height at the point where the ends of the screws thread into the guitar. It will require some hands-on experience adjusting them before it makes sense.

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

It claims Factory Refinish but I've never seen the headstock redone in factory. That the front and rear logos were painted over makes me doubt that it was a factory job. Though the fret markers seem to be there, I see only a bit of lighting glare where the serial should be. My suspicion is that onl...

Re: the Anatomy of a Fly

Welcome! Until someone else chimes in, Rbmusica , I'll point out that the tangless Fly fret wire was supposedly the hardest formulation that the factory could extrude; with tanged formulations necessarily being softer due to the malleability requirement. So Jescar stainless, EVO gold, etc. are not g...

Re: Chipping on fretboard?

If I turn the volume down and back up again, it takes several seconds worth of crackling before the signal comes back through. Mag volume or piezo volume? The mag volume can be cheaply replaced with any common 500k pot if cleaning it out and checking the solder connections at the lugs yields no imp...

Re: Mod. Split coil with mag volume knob.

Anyone here have the idea or the technical knowledge of how I could accomplish this without destroying the guitar? I think I do. I'll explain how, then explain what makes it difficult: What you're describing would require a dual gang pot with a no-load mod to its tracks (so that, at 10, the series-...

Re: Chipping on fretboard?

Congrats on the acquisition, kidislegend . Firstly, the fingerboard indentation(s) are not anything you have to worry about getting worse - The most common chip locations are in the paint along the sides of the neck. It looks to me as though someone may have been using a crowning file on the fret wh...

**SOLD** 2011 Supreme w/Sustainiac, Hexpander mods

Being as I'm moving at the end of the month, the time has come to part with a few of my extra guitars. My ownership between 2020 to present is documented here . I'm hoping this is the last Fly I'll have to sell (My Belew and customized '97 Deluxe have been the designated "keepers"). I'd li...

Re: How the Fly Vibrato Bridge Works: Yet Another Guide to Setting up your Floating Bridge

@lucas.kratochwil, the Ernie Ball Cobalts supposedly have a slightly lower tension than their normal Slinkys. I'd try Pat's suggestion to test it with your 9 spring.

dougc84 , I'm curious about approximately how many steps up in pitch your G detunes before this happens. Though it's likely different for every Fly, I just measured my 2011 (same parts as your Mojo) as having around 3.31mm/0.13" space for pull-up travel between the ridge plate and step-stop bl...

Hi all. My friend has this guitar he's had for a few years now his father gave to him but we're having trouble identifying it. The serial is 0407233USA. Welcome. Re: Fly Pickups (Gen 1, Gen 2, and Other)

timshephard , the pole piece height adjustment is a matter of personal preference. You can adjust them to balance relative volume between strings, coils, and pickups; as well as to emphasize or de-emphasize bass and treble frequencies. If you’re trying to get a D28 sound out of humbuckers, you may ...
