Re: Nut replacement

Try shoving a sushi rice paddle under the strings in front of the bridge like this guy does, @vjmanzo.

I guarantee I can make a Fly sound far worse than a sitar, just by playing it.

Re: Nut replacement

I would love to see that! Please do! I jinxed myself and couldn’t get to it before I had to leave the house, but... Basically, you can build the nut slots back up by first applying and building up a foundation of particulates (ideally the same color as the nut material) in the slot, then applying a...

Re: Nut replacement

My ‘97 Classic’s G slot is worn enough to produce that tell-tale sitar buzz you get from insufficient break angle. I’ll probably use the ol’ smidge of baking soda and CA trick, then file it down with some sandpaper wrapped around a spare string. I’ll bump with results, for the sake of anyone else no...

For neither the first nor final time do I thank you and everyone who does this thankless R&D work to keep Flys flying.

That’s vintage “pre-refined” paint! 🤩
Can’t wait to see the vintage paint chips listed separately in a bundle with the knobs.

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

I saw that when I was comparing it with the white hardtail listing. What gets me is that the asking price for a particular cracked and chipped Fly is presumably high due to the rarity of the color - But being as the guitar needs refinishing anyway, you could just refinish a cheaper Fly in that color...

Re: Tracking down a Belew

The listing lasted about 28 hours before selling after two offers. I *think* it was the first one listed since this tangerine Belew sold for $7620 in 2018. I’m feeling pretty thrifty for not spending $9,000 today. I got as far as choosing which of my guitars I was going to list tomorrow (and started...

Re: Tracking down a Belew

Considering he’s playing gigs north and south of me with none in my town, I’m sure he and his van of band mates would stop by on their way through and play kazoos for far less than the cost of that guitar. I could probably sweeten the deal with a Fripp dartboard, too.

Re: Adrian Belew available

I keep telling myself that lime gold has always been my least favorite Belew finish, that I already have four Flys with 13 pin-outs (two with sustainiacs) to scratch that itch, that I didn’t just sell my Variax 2.0 to buy a 1.0 in a Fly body, that I’d rather still have the guitars I’d need to sell t...

Re: Adrian Belew available

Oof. If only I hadn’t gotten that Aristides two weeks ago, I’d have already bought the thing and swore to pay myself back, later. As it is, I got to the checkout screen, saw the final price, and looked around at all the guitars I’d have to sell in the next month or two just to try out the Belew. I’l...

Re: First Parker!

Yours seems to be a DF422FR. The 522 had a pair of EMGs, and the 524 had HSS Duncan pickups. Granted, the model naming conventions don't make sense to me, either.

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

It seems the $6,500 ’99 Artist posted on the previous page sold after two offers. I wonder if it dipped below $5k, how soon we’ll be seeing it again, and if the next Artist listed in worse condition will have a higher starting price. I do see a fair amount of Flys/NFs listed at what I consider to be...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

Musikron , crack would make for a sweet deal (the guitar could be had for $9,804 through Reverb Payments, or five bucks in person). But I’m afraid this one is old-fashioned cynicism: Listing for the highest price, “for a limited time only”, maximizes the free advertising for wherever it is off of R...

Re: Could Parker guitars return?

Ah. If it’s this or anything like it, I dig it. Shame about techs being afraid to work on it - Perhaps if you give them the choice between working on the Taos or the Fly, you can frighten them into doing what you want.

Re: Could Parker guitars return?

NailCommunication , I must admit you now have me curious as to what your Taos looks like. I would agree that some of the Flys produced are specimens worthy of inclusion amongst the "best" electric guitars ever built - But then again, I haven't had the opportunity to play a Sankey, Bill De...
