Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

Love that Italian Plum finish! 🤤 And this Fly seems like it’s in near-perfect condition! Although, I’m always more than a little hesitant to buy a high-priced item from someone without feedback 😬

Re: Just Joined

Way cool! That looks like a floor model or trade show thing—definitely not a stock backplate! Love it!! ♥️

Did you get this Fly recently? Looks like you have an aftermarket vibrato arm, so I’m guessing you bought this used (or just lost the arm!)?

Sloppy Paintwork

Dangerous for the guitar or dangerous for the human? Ken did develop an intolerance to cedar (which is why there are only three cedar Fly Artists from his era), but I believe what he’s referring to here is how the paint shop had the potential to mask their craftsmanship. On more than one occasion, ...

Re: “Parker as an Investment” Gone Wrong

Marc. Your prose is fabulously entertaining! I completely agree!! One of the main reasons I keep coming back to this forum! 😂 Yeah, that’s a tough break about the PDF80FR if it was bought with the intent to simply resell it at a higher value. I’ve been looking at Flys on the Guitar Center website f...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

Natural ’06 Mojo For reference, the current asking price of $2850 is exactly what I paid for my first Fly Mojo new from the factory in 2005. 👀 Since then, I’ve purchased other Mojos for under $1800; the Mojo we used for the Fly 12-string mod came for Guitar Center in summer 2018, and I paid $1750 f...

Re: Not a Parker

File a claim. I've gone down this path many times with both UPS and FedEX for guitars they've damaged, and it's always been a slow-moving, frustrating, process. The burden to resolve the matter is mostly on you, and you have to use their terrible "portals" for communicating and uploading ...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

They never had any intention of playing the thing - They were too preoccupied with playing out their Wolf of Steinberger Street broker fantasies. There’s absolutely nothing “rock and roll” about this. 🤦‍♂️ …many independent guitar/amp/pedal builders taking on more orders than they could keep up wit...

Of course by now I think we’ve all read that recent Wall Street Journal special edition issue that outlined steps to move out of mid-cap growth funds and diversify in vintage Steinbergers…

…this pre-refined Artist for an arbitrary $6,940, plus $150 shipping, plus sales tax. Yeah…these types of listings don’t exactly foster the sense of community many of us Fly enthusiasts here and on FB are interested in facilitating. 🫤 I get it though: not everyone sees “Fly ownership” as a communit...

Re: Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?

This is basically the USA-made bolt-on MaxxFly guitars - DF524, 624, 724. Ya know, I hadn’t look at them that way, but I think you’re right on, jester700 🙏 Thanks for that. I’m not familiar with those models, so I think I need to educate myself (V.J. said to himself sneakily in order to justify his...

Re: Why aren't Ken Parker's innovations being used today?

It seems to me that with all the modern manufacturing tools, materials and automation, a strategy that could kill all those poor birds with one stone would be to solve the problem of creating a cutting edge guitar that could be manufactured easily and cheaply and then find a way to resist the tempt...

Yes, Bigpig63 everything mmmguitar said is spot on (thanks, Marc!). Thank you, also, for the kind words. I’ll just add that the Fly patents have all expired at this point. Regardless, Ken has been as helpful as he can be with this effort. As Marc suggested, a time-consuming part of this effort has b...

Re: “What’s This Worth?” Thread

Just posting a PSA for anyone considering buying the ‘99 maple Classic… Thanks, Marc; I saw that one pop up today and had similar mixed feelings: one the one hand, it’s true that it’s a rarer Fly, but certain sellers have an asterisk for me when I see them, and, even with the consistency of most Fl...
