Re: Damage to Fly from Broken Spring

Haha no real cause for alarm  Damage to the body due to a spring snapping is rare; it’s more likely that the spring would just snap and fall apart. However, there are a few known instances where a broken spring did, in fact, shoot through the front of the guitar. We’re mostly just looki...

Re: Volume knob placement

Hey InsideInfo —yes, I’ve heard of others tucking the master volume knob inside the guitar, carefully strain-relieving the Flex PCB, and plugging the hole (Lowes sells small hole plugs that are useful). I personally don’t mind the master volume knob in that location because it’s easy to do volume sw...

Damage to Fly from Broken Spring

Hello, My team and I are looking for examples of damage to the Fly resulting from the flat spring breaking. If you have any pictures and narrative describing damage to your Fly as a result of the spring breaking, would you kindly post those here? In particular, we are looking for photos of damage to...

Re: Parker Fly Deluxe 1997 - Neck Crack

Most people on forums etc. thought that those were cracks signaling structural damages. Yes, Symbolic3001 , that happens all the time and, actually, you can sometimes see sellers apologetically listing their Flys much lower than you’d expect because they too assume that there is neck damage. Now, 2...

Re: Springs

Hi InsideInfo Welcome to the forum, and thanks for the post. This video describes what the springs should be doing: https://youtu.be/IKhi0BsFlB0 I’ve summarized a few of the guiding thoughts my team and I have had on this. Statement #1: Right now, you/anyone can get any number of machine shops or sp...

Re: Parker Fly 10th Anniversay, #13 of ???

Happy to help! That’s a great instrument and I’m sure others here saw your images and drooled a bit! The serial number suggests, as you noted, that this is from the brief period when “refinements” were introduced to the Fly and Ken was still at the helm. Having his autograph on it is a pretty ...

This was the Fly Jazz listing I referenced above that I remembered seeing a while back: https://reverb.com/item/7167787-parker-fly-jazz-transparent-cherry-red-electric-guitar-fishman-piezo-rare Yours looks like it’s in better condition, so that’s a plus; also looks like this was being sold outside t...

Re: Parker Fly 10th Anniversay, #13 of ???

Hey BurningNorth , Welcome to the forum! Quite a gem you’ve got there!! Yes, Ken Parker does indeed check this forum, and I’ll ping him on this. This is, indeed, a rarer one-off insofar as the unique treatments; it’s a Fly Jazz model, which has the same wood combination as a Fly Classic. I can’t tel...

Re: Parker Fly Deluxe 1997 - Neck Crack

Hi Symbolic3001 , The neckjoint is a common place for finish cracks, which is what those look like. If it were mine, I would have a tech look at it to assess if the setup is proper and then I would not be concerned about it one bit. It is impossible for composite material on the back of that neck to...

Re: Best Nitefly?

Hi Fast-Die , This document summarizes the changes of the NiteFly over time. The most radical departure from the original design, which occurred at the very end of Parker Guitars, was a NiteFly that had no composite reinforcement on the neck (only a composite fingerboard); this is shown in the 2015 ...

Re: Help setting the action on a Fly deluxe 97

Hi @TalM,

If you’re taking this guitar to a tech, maybe just print up the manual and explain the problem. That hex screw in that bridge bushing probably hasn’t been turned in 20 years, and needs a good shove, but probably best to let a tech explore that for you!
